it is undoubtly going to be a wireless world soon.we r all using so many wireles things daily n the number of such devices will only increase.they r much more convenient and make r life more easy!!

I think the adavantages of wireless technologies outweigh it's disadvantages. Last mile connectivity is still an issue in a country like ours. India is a nation which ranks 12th in terms of GDP. However it's infrastructure is not up to the mark . How many times have we been irated about telcos digging on side of road to lay fiber optics. There is zero co-ordination between telcos and muncipal corporation which is supposed to relay roads once the work is complete. Technologies like Wi-Max will replace fiber optics and copper for last mile connectivity (at least to some extent). As far as health issues go, if we think abt it even TV and CRT monitors can cause electromagnetic radiation (VAN-ECK effect), so IMHO not supporting wireless because of it's harmful would mean not supporting any technology that relies or gives out EMR as a side effect. Having said that, more research needs to be carried in the area of heath issues with wireless.

Th current trend is wired network as primary source of LAN access and wlan as secondary souce to address mobility, which is the right way to go about wlan.

Every technology has its own advantage and disadvantage, but we need to identiify how we can reduce the harm that the advancement technology creates

I prefer to be neutral. Wired and Wireless: Each has its own advantages, disadvantages and limitations. Wired : Stable, better quality, more data speed, more products and features, bigger user terminals, scope of local networking of different utility systems, limited mobility, difficut and clumsy to set and expand with underground cables etc. etc. Wireless: Mobility, easy to carry user terminals, wider reach.easier to implement and expand, limitations in delivery of very high data speeds. limitation in realizing fully wireless networking. The ideal path is a scenario in which both technology mutually supporting and complementing and finally becoming a universal facility. Because, as the data rate go higher and higher, the cell size become smaller and smaller and limit speed of mobility. Therefore, the distinguishing factors between the two slowly vanishe except for the type of end link and end user device.

before i start , Happy New Year everyone, I understand that wireless tech. make ur gadgets handheld n portable..But it also has dark side. As far as the medical reports by doctors are concerd regardin its effects on our body n brain..i wud say that wired tech is much better than any choas..

Hello, i agree with you that we should adapt the technology according to times for example we have mobiles they use radio waves and the result it is making the small birds extinct like sparrow and they are so many consumer electronic items like audio, video players, irons, computers etc etc.Just imagine you walking cutting across a network of radiations which you really cannot see.Do you think you crossed garden?.

The wireless technology is really going to hamper the environment. The more the radiations occupy space which have frequency of few Hz and this will reflect the things which are not suitable with these kind of radiations and it can have adverse effect on the health and environment and moreover we will be breathing radiations along with air ;)
