hello Himanshu,i think options in this debate is not clear.what is the point in bringing Lalu ji here? instead options should be of whether to resign or not.i don't see any santity in getting minister's resignation as it will lead to going away from responsibilities.also, the concerned persons who commited mistake are not reporting to the minister.there are more sensible ways to tackle these king of incidents.on a lighter side, does Lalu ji have any supernatural powers to see that these kind of accidents will never occur?strictly following safety norms is the only solution to prevent these kind of incidents and not any resignations!!

To run an institution like Railways atleast a certain amount of education and professionalism is needed rather than being a good orator only. We had already made the mistake of making her the Railways minister, now we are paying for this decision by losing our near and dear ones. Why ask her to leave, she has a record of leaving such high offices in gthe past. Just wait and watch till WB elections which is her only priority, a state leader than a national leader....

I think this is the right time for Lalu Prasad to step in and take charge of the department. He has been a case study at many an institutes for his work. I think Congress can bite some ego back and ask him to take charge especially when Mamata has openly said that WB Chief Ministership for her is more important then Railway Ministry.

Neither, i believe its time not only in Railways but all ministries to be headed by people who know the particular segment in & out, by virtue of having worked extensively in it. We continue to be ruled and governed by people who neither know nor care.

I will support that Ms Mamta Banerjee should resign, though personally I feel that is not the solution of the problem.Solution lies in making the Railway more professional which none of our esteemed politicians can do, rather we need good managers in railway ministry who can be more effective. Let us be practical we know hardly a few of our politicians have capability and caliber to handle their jobs effectively, but if they can only choose some better administrators it will definitely have much positive effect.

It won't happen immediately as she's waiting for the West Bengal assembly elections. If she doesn't goof up before the elections, then her party is sure to gain power in that state. When that happens, you can be sure that the Railway ministry will be up for grabs although Ms. Bannerji would surely insist on her party holding on to this crucial portfolio. As for Laloo Prasad, well he'll certainly enjoy the support of the overwhelming number of Bihari employees in the Indian railways, especially in the northern half of the country. Ironically, this is the region where most of the railway mishaps have taken place. I'm not smelling any conspiracy here; just noticed a coincidence. The bottomline is safety and if Laloo Prasad can make a difference as I think he will, then I support the idea of getting him back as the Railway Minister.
