I am not asking that are women or even the little girls out there safe or not. I know they are not. But what is the reason behind it? What do men have in their mind when they commit such crimes? Or are they just psychopaths? Women are tender, gentle and however they are mentally strong they are physically weak. They cannot fight back with the equal strength and that is an added advantage for the men. So is the fact that "woman is fairer and weaker sex and they can't protest":- Is this the mentality behind the rapes and sexual abuses happening around the globe?

Looking at the present scenario its difficult to say what is it in their minds. How can people think of molesting and raping little school going girls. There are people who said that the improper dressing sense leads to such incidents but how do you think it is true when our little princess is dressed up in her school dress or a women wearing salwar suit is raped!! These men definitely have it in their mind that they will easily get away with it because these women don't have enough power to protest. It is indeed a sick mentality but still it is true.

Weak? Really?!

Read this:

It has been confirmed by science that a human being can bear 45 Del (units) of pain, but at birth, a woman can feel up to 57 Del (units) of pain! This is the kind of pain you feel when 20 of your bones have been fractured at the same time.

Who else can bear this degree of pain if not your mother, who is also a woman?

Yes i completely agree with Shilpa. Whether the women is educated or not the men are behaving the same with both. Because of some men rude behaviour women are developing hatred towards all men and we start to suspect every men. India got independence but still women are not safe.

Mahatma Gandhi, in his speech in 1942, said, thus: "It is my firm conviction that a fearless woman, who knows that her purity is her best shield can never be dishonoured. However beastly the man, he will bow in shame before the flame of her dazzling purity. …… I therefore recommend women…to try to cultivate this courage. They will become wholly fearless if they can and cease to tremble as they do today at the thought of assaults…. Parents and husbands should instruct women in the art of becoming fearless. It can best be learnt from a living faith in God. Though He is invisible , He is one’s unfailing protector. He who has this faith is the most fearless of all…. When a woman is assaulted she may not stoop to think in terms of himsa or ahimsa. Her primary duty is self-protection. She is at liberty to employ every method or means that come to her mind in order to defend her honour. God has given her nails and teeth. She must use them with all her strength and, if need be, die in the effort. The man or woman who has shed all fear of death will be able not only to protect himself or herself but others also through laying down hi (or her) life." (H, 1-3-1942, p. 60)

Shilpa I partially agree with you. I think one of the reason is education once every body will be educated the attack on the fair sex will reduce drastically. The male dominated society is partly responsible for this and yes there are psychopaths are also there.

The fair sex should protest and protect themselves and on top of this there should huge penalty including the gallows for any crime towards women and heavy policing should be there at least in Metros where the chances of such offence are more.

If it is th provocative dress code of girls then why are the little girls in school uniforms and women in salwar suit and even the older women in sarees raped??

Isn't it more about the mentality of the men than just the dressing??

Not really, In fact, in most of the protests you see world-wide today, we see a fairly large group of women protestors. Recently, in Canada, we not only saw a woman protesting, but also passionately kissing her boy-friend after being beaten up by the police.

Man, thats 'woman' for you, notwithstanding any consequences, a woman can go a mile to kiss her dear ones even in the heat of protests around her. A weaker sex bold enough to make such bold moves even when the whole world is into disarray in front of her.

Then in Manipur, when there was a rape case by the army, we saw a whole lot of nude women protesting against the army atrocities done against the girls. Where on earth will you find the "Weaker Sex" again being bold enough to shame the government.

So, mind you, women are no more "Weak", though they look weak. They are much stronger in their heart than in their body. And that is what actually counts in today's scenario.

When I was born, A Woman was there to hold me : My Mother As I grew up as a child, A woman was there to care & play with me: My Sister I went to school, A Woman was there to help me learn: My Teacher I became depressed when I lost, A Woman was there to offer a shoulder: My Girlfriend I needed compatibility, company & Love, A Woman was there for me: My Wife I became tough, A Woman was there to melt me: My Daughter When I will die, A Woman will be there to absorb me in: My Motherland If you are a Man, value every Woman. Although woman is the fairer sex, but agreeing partially with the views of Shrikant Manohar, I do not also agree with the view that woman is a weaker sex to protest and to protect herself.

In fact her weakness is the direct result of the following factors:

1) Psychological effect on account of social environments, which create inherent fear of weakness in her right from the childhood that she is at the mercy of men;

2) Parents' partial behavior towards girls with the intention to keep male sex always in the forefront of the female sex that thrusts inferiority complex and mentality of weakness in the girl child right from her childhood;

3) Woman's not taking part in physical exercises, yoga, outdoor games, judo, karate, etc.;

4) woman's own internal desire to always look very charming that causes sexual attraction more of the sick-minded men towards her as compared to the sensible persons.

Sober dress and make-up free face of the woman till her marriage can provide much more inherent security to her.

The question arises, when she is already known as a FAIRER sex, does there arise any need for her becoming more fairer and charming artificially?

However, in case her modesty becomes at stake, as quoted by Muralidharan, as per the advice in the speech of Mahatma Gandhi, a woman must use her great weapons, her nails and teeth, against the rascals to protect her modesty.

I definitely do not agree that women are in any way weaker than men. Women are better disposed in many skills and so are fair equals to males. I am of the firm opinion that the two sexes cannot exist without the other hence are absolutely equal and complement one another in the cycle of life. Women must be afforded the same rights as men in a society that is not gender-biased

Nope, in most cases it is the perversion of an ill mind that makes men act in such a way. In other cases its the women themselves who lead men to act in this manner. Suggestively dressing or passing erotic remarks etc. would definitely create a false sense of desire in the minds of men. And when the desire doesnt get fulfilled it turns into rape and other such abuses. If a woman stands firm and is faithful to her own husband / boy friend, i think she can face any situation. Also one must understand our own capacity and act accordingly. If you are physically weak, ensure you have some means of protecting yourself. In a lot of cases it is women themselves who goad their husbands / son to perpetuate atrocities against other women.

Do n't you see  that these occurrence are taking place in Other parts of the World where the sex education has reached a particular level. Comparatively, it smaller in INDIA.

These occurrence can be attributed to social norms prevalent in various community & poor education level. Our societal up-bring of girls need to be revised so that to tackle this sociological problems.

I agree that women is the fairer sex, but they are not weak. The upbringing of a girl and boy are different. Always parents want the girls to stay at home and do house hold works apart from going to school/college. So this will have an imapact when a girl grows and enters adolscence. One important matter what women lack is confident in themselves. Women should feel proud as we are mentally very strong than the male gander. May be sometimes the fault lies with the women. But most of the times men tend to take advantage of the situation. Women should learn to defend themselves. So,I request the women folk to stand up against the exploitation and defend themselves and help the fellow women....

such crime takes place when that particular person is not in good state of mind at that particular moment.

No normal person with full conscious commits any crime,

Hi Muralidharan,

Good quote of Mahatma's speech. A woman must use the weapons she already has in the shape of her nails and teeth.

But, regret to say, our laws have not been made to work in accordance with the Mahatma Gandhi's speech so far. These laws still follow the British colonial pattern.

Dear Kiran,

Probably you think the highly decorated women with more than half naked body or with shorts are more safe as compared to the Saari clad women. The glittering high fashion added with her frank pose by a woman in front of others is one of the reasons for attracting bad eyes towards them. If a school prescribes tiny skirts for the school girls or parents prefer to make small skirts for them, how they can avoid attraction of bad elements towards them? Rape of salwar-suit clad girls are very rare as compared to other cases.

Better try to analyse the situation only after having a proper view of their dresses.

I don't think these crimes are to do anything with who is weaker or fairer. I think it the result of the vanity and skin based media. Even little children are brought up into looking as miniature item dancers. immorality and crime is in a way glamorized to an extent that no one really thinks about right and wrong. Actions are based on personal interest and self gratification. In western societies these incidents were prevalant from many years ago, and since our society is slowly imitating them the bad also comes along with it. When Women themselves portray themselves as a material object, the immoral males of the society don't need to think twice. Each gender has differences, they are no equals, its up to the men and women to accept these inequalities and compensate for it in the right way, rather than blaming each other. No point scrutinizing the result, when the root cause is more prevalent and gaining acceptance in our society.

Shilpa is too modest in saying that women can't lead resistance. Aug san suyi in Myanmar who fought the military junta and Mamata Banerjee who single handedly took on the CPM might in Bengal and shook their political base are living examples of legeandary woman power. But majority of the women who struggle to stand on their legs economically cannot be expected to perform as rebels with a cause; for them life is foremost and facing its struggle is paramount.

Women are raped or molested not because they are weaker but because some men are animal. Every woman is a mother or sister to someone. Men who can not realize it commit such crimes. Weaker society is not able to protest such crimes. such crimes are committed more in Delhi but less in other cities or towns because oft he weaker society or irresponsible men.  Women have always been weaker physically since long but the crime rate is increasing in this modern society not in the old days because the society was morally strong to protest against such crimes. Women need not be stronger to fight against . Men need transformation morally. In loose society of today where no body cares about others' there is natural encouragement to such phenomena. In such circumstances only strong and committed policing can help. Let India Jago and prevent crime against the weaker part of the society.

I want to support no, with due respect to your views, Ms. Shilpa.

Woman is fairer sex but they are not weaker.

Such types are incidences are happening due to ill-thinking of men & male dominating society, where most of them are seeing a woman as commodity.

This is my personal view, & it may differs from other & I will respect the other views, also.
