Yes, reservation but with clearly drawn time limit. There should be no reservation in long term yet this should be allowed for a period of 15-20 years, only to make up for correcting the past aberrations.. Thanks for invite... Sachin.

If you don't bend your rules to satisfy the feminine gender in politics, they are bound to ruin the very fabric of democracy! We have witness great emergency declared when a woman leader was put into difficulty, Uttar Pradesh faces wrath, self-portrayal, anarchy, Tamil Nadu was instrumental in demolishing the stable central government in BJP regime, TATA had to abandon his dream project, and above all, the status of an HONEST statesman is brutally assaulted in the hands of a very powerful person belonging to feminine gender! Recommend quota and face elections every year!

The decision of women reservation in parliament which has been passed by the upper house now should be passed by the lower house and all other concerned.
The reservation for women(33%)is if I may call it the decesion of the decade. If the women can manage kitchen, all sorts of job including teaching, handeling child/children then I think they are in a good position to run the parliament also.
In india the women are not treated equally which is unfortunate but once they are in parliament the thinking process of ours will chang and we will treat them equally

their shouldn't be any reservation on the basis of gender, we already have reservation based on caste. presence of women is necessary in the top law making body but should not be by reservation but by based on the merit. I think we should think about meritocracy based democracy.

It may hurt the self respect of women who have come up on their own ability, it may result in lesser respect for women in the society. It may also bring down the quality of leaders. Parties will be forced to find women whether or not the women identify with the overall party agenda and the rest of the issues concerning all citizens, as opposed to just women’s issues. There are no provisions to prevent discrimination against men because of finding women who are inclined towards women’s issues alone, or, in other words, biased against men. Powerful male members of parties will be tempted to find female relatives to ‘reserve’ the seat for themselves during the following cycle. It is feared that reservation would only help women of the elitist groups to gain seats, therefore causing further discrimination and under-representation to the poor and backward classes (According to a National Election Study, 68 per cent of today's women MPs are millionairesses).

1. The way the bill is cast, 3 constituencies are bunched together and the reservation rotates between these 3 election to election. Some ladies are very competent. After a successful nursing of her constituency, she may choose to seek re-election from that constituency only and perhaps win. So, in this group of 3, there are 2 ladies in parliament. Assuming 30% of the sets are like this, within one election, it goes to 45%. 2. Like The ERA Bill in the USA, no party is interested in this. If they were, they could have implemented it in their party itself while selecting candidates. Let them allot 30% seats to women - not to worry if half of them lost - atleast it starts a trend

@ Murlidharan I agree on Male Chauvinism and the Constitution way of women representation. But i couldn't agree on u r earlier remark about the 'Necessary Women Representation to make women satiate their representation problems'. I wonder if that might be the vision of this representation by our Male chauvinistic people, then its a waste of time for both of us. The whole purpose is defeated, leading to more chaos and filth in the ensuing system.

Mr. Sri Krishna, its not the question of "for" or "against" reservation! The era of male chauvinism in politics is not over yet. We need to re-think on the constitution and People's Representation Act. We have to now cleanse the system and the electoral reforms are must! If we fail to address these issues, good able women would not like to participate in the political scenario! You would only get people with vested interests only!

@ S. Muralidharan Are u Supporting or Not Supporting Reservations for Women? We are talking about the improvement in situations of women related problems, Not about how to satisfy their feminine gender for our interests. I am sure u got a hold of the problem now. Yeah the referred examples u pointed out correspond to women in politics. But what abt the problems generated by Men in High Positions?? I think we have seen enough of them and that y we r here for women to enter politics.

@ Sakina Chandra The Said Quota wont settle the problems of women. Its just an appeasement to women problem. Also if the women put in the corrupt n non-responsible govt will lead to corrupt women in 90% cases. The Only way this problem of reservation can be solved is to Stop Corruption and show the advantages of Following Values to the future upcoming Women at Higher Positions.

reservations for women in parliament is not necessary..this is just against the right to equality.on one side everybody talks about giving equal rights to both men & women but on other side we are differentiating them.

As i Mentioned Before, Reservations are required for a short term plan, but not for a long term plan. But before thinking of any reservation we must think of liberating people of their Backwardness and other myths. These are the things which we should reserve our time to get rid of them from the society. If these are done in a phased manner we need not talk about Reservations or in particularly Reservations for Women

Every citizen of India has equal rights. Discrimination would always lead to conflicts and would never allow the citizens to work with each other peacefully.

Women reservation means men superiority. Women should have come together and opposed it. Unfortunately that did not happen. Why not women campaign for men reservation in the parliament. This will really give them the taste of how men feel about it. In these times, women better in every facet of life and they have progressed in almost every field. Why should there be a reservation. This is a political gimmick and nothing else.

There is slight blunder in the thinking of people towards Reservation. Any type of reservation is just to show that person or organisation is weak and is/are unable to express themselves or due to economic problems or even illiteracy. Given women reservation for such long period like 20-30 years is a blunder in itself and a chance for blunders on the part of politician, who has proved themselves useless of tackling the situation of backwardness and other economic problems. A Deadline based system should be introduce with fail-safe instruments (only for genuine situations) in the Indian Law Making and Implimenting. This will allow development to take place fast and with no regrets. In my view, Womens Reservation should be scraped within 5-10 years, a period of 1-2 Indian Political Power periods with retrospective on the first 5 years work and completing in the second 5 years window without fail.
