After reading the whole comment I do not understand that you mean "Women should go topless" or "Woman should NOT go topless".. As far as law is concerned we unfortunately don't have any such law. But this is a matter of understanding we have as a person. We know how to dress and how not to.. We are still debating on "dress according to ocassion" at night clubs is right or not and here comes a statement on topless..

Well, anything which harms women is nt right for women. If a woman can fight against the whole men force while wearing nothing and protect herself then it is ok but do you think it is possible.. It is not about law.. it is about individual..

Personally, if guys can go topless, women should have the RIGHT to do so as well. Whether they would actually use that right is another question altogether...and more suited to a porn site!

Yes..to make world free from all these conflicts Well in all to stop the conflict, "who gets nude first", a complete freedom must be declared. Thus showing off a sexual organ that provocates opposite must be allowed ( just to get rid of the headache of daily debates) So, say if women are allowed to show boobs, males must be allowed to slide down their underwears and show of pen** .. and in return females too should be allowed to slide down their underwears. Additionally.. if their are more demands.. say "why people are not allowed to masturbate".. In that case make free that too. So that everyone male/female is completely free to masturbate in open markets and streets... Again their would be more demands of having sex .. then sex too should be allowed to be done in open markets and streets.. after that if gays and lesbians too ask for such freedom.. they too should be allowed. Additionally we can move ahead with a complete freedom of organizing "Sex parties", "group sex" etc. If people wanna get nude.. let them be ! give the freedom from their clothes!

Message is: "People must have self control, and shouldnot get provocated by whatever goes on besides them "

Once this happens, we can fully concentrate and focus on the development of our country

Yeah Rashmi,

Completely agree!

There are countless real life problems, social evils exists in contemporary society- where a women have to go topless against her will-for a square meal, for survival, and many more reasons.

Instead of gratifying Men's typical sexist wills and lusts, why don't we respect women's body? Why dont we extend our grey matter and humanness to look around the issues which is our product and responsibility also.

In the summer of 1996 Gwen Jacobs enjoyed a topless summer stroll during which she was seen by a local O.P.P officer, was apprehended and subsequently charged with indecent exposure. Gwen Jacobs pleaded not guilty in court and won the right to go topless in Ontario. This incident brought up an excellent question: should women be allowed to go topless on public beaches and in other public areas? The answer is strictly no, women should not be allowed to go topless anywhere outside of their own home. One of the many reasons why I believe that women should not be allowed to go topless is with respect to the safety of women. Men and boys have, in recent years, been using short, tight, skirts and shirts as an excuse for rape or date rape. Men have said that the girl was wearing a tight shirt and short skirt and it was obvious that she was easy and wanted the attention. This statement leads me to my next point. The average human being upon first contact with a stranger bases his initial impression of that person solely on the person's appearance. This is only natural as the only thing that we know about this stranger is what we see of them the first time we meet. We all are aware of the sayings "Preppy","Jockish","Skater","Sluty" etc. This final saying, "Sluty" is interpreted by 90 percent of North Americans as a tight skirt and tight tank top which happens to be the usual ensemble of a prostitute. This first impression of a girl in nothing but a skirt and a bare chest will no doubt elevate to the new version of a "Slut" and a girl that wants it. My second point is, what kind of questions will a mother be asked by her son when he sees a half nude woman walking down the street. The first question that this child will ask is why do these women have no shirt on and you do? Your reply will be well ahhh go talk to your father. This dilemma will no doubt be brought about as these and other questions about the sexual nature of the body will be put forth by young children. Questions that you as a parent do not feel should be answered truthfully to such a young child. My third point begins thousands of years ago when man first walked on the earth. When man first walked he hunted and his wife(clothless) cleaned the game and took care of the young. As centuries have progressed women have stepped forth into a new era of equal rights. We've seen the first women doctors, astronauts, business owners and many other firsts in numerous professions. Women have made giant leaps when it comes to respect from men in their professional field. This respect which women have been fighting for over the past century, is on the verge of collapse. Women seem to be taking this new law allowing them to go topless to an extreme. Walking their dogs, walking on the beach and strolling through public places with no tops on. This display of nudity, in the average person's eyes, whether they admit to it or not, will cause men to look down again on women. If, for example, the first woman astronaut (Sally Ride) were to start going topless in public places it would be plastered on the front page of every newspaper. This in turn would lead to her fellow colleagues looking down on her. This would be a giant step backwards in respect to equal rights for women. Following the changes to this law allowing women to go topless our cities will slowly begin to diverge into places that encourage nudity and places that do not encourage nudity. Our economy will begin to collapse, as store owners appalled by this nudity will be forced to close their stores and move, if this nudity is surrounding them. This also applies to stores that want to have workers that want to go topless, they will be forced to relocate to places of nudity. As this begins to happen slowly our cities will become two sided and our economy's stability will collapse beneath our feet. An excellent example of this situation is taking place in Quebec. A law in Quebec states that a women may work in nothing less than ling

Thanks for the invite Sheetal. :)

I'm saying "NO".

Men, in general, are not ready for exhibitionist behaviour on the part of women. It might increase competition and we men are quite possessive - even if we are capable of feeling possessive about more than one. Also, most male relatives feel that no man can resist - in effect - an invitation to misbehave.

Women, also in general, are not ready - for exactly the same reason mentioned above but reversed - if you catch my drift - women who walk around topless would be perceived so much as competitors that it might very well be a woman's group who will proceed to clue-in the poor woman. :)

I would suggest that women reserve their right to go topless, for for-your-eyes-only, exclusive use in front of the men that the said topless-going women are comfortable with. :D As if you didn't know that already. :D :D

Women are probably going to start finding a lot more reasons to beat me up than they already have, if I continue.

Cheers!

Going Topless is also not permissible in public places according to law. and you can be called in court. We should do the work that put the good example for others. however as a person everyone should has the right to do anything. But we have some responsibility towards the other. Like you will never want to be this case of any of your relative. We have mind so think...

Sheetal u r rational. First one has to the think what is the use of going topless. Ok! if they say its very hot here and want to go topless, they may get sunburn. If theywant freedom, it is not the only thing to claim freedom. there r so many ways....... guess and find out. if u (not sheetal) ask me personnally, I will give u hundreds of ideas. If u really want go topless in India, it is not possible, not because of the law but because of the perspective of the the people. If u do such a thing, u will be ostracised and will consider u as a bad Character. Few people may accept, but the few wont be sufficient enough to protect u from the harassment. Anyways, if someone really want to go topless, better go to some nude beaches in Europe or Australia........

What is meant by "allowed" ? Is it permission by the Government or by her family or self-decision ? I think no woman will take a decision to go topless even if the law allows. If it is forceful then it will be a crime. Further we are leaving in a civilised country where there are plenty of clothes available on this earth for the purpose. Even people living BPL are aware of this and they are maintaining a good decorum. There are off course some isolated cases, that some woman goes topless in beach and dances but all woman does not fall in these categories. Lets watch them only and should be copy cats.

I will not appreciate if any of the genders go nude in public. Lets understand the civil society's code of conduct. Lets not be the copy cat in the context of being global. By the way Ms. Rashmi Cuellar, you suggest that if men can go topless then even women can do the same. My point is, women should do it just because few men are doing it? Don't they have their own conscience? Why you suggest women to copy something which they can easily find inappropriate by their own intelligence?

Is it required now? . If so, on what pretext, you like to  introduce:-

  • As a Revolution to social norms existing.
  • As a Fashion to the 21st or 22nd century.
  • As an economical measures (mean reducing the cost of dress).
  • To counter a group, existing on the Universe, to be on equal terms.
  • What is the majority of women aspire on this.
  • Going topless is part of Nudity which is a Nuisance Case as per Civil rights.

Based on these, deduction can be arrived at , for the query.

I am totally agree with your statement, Charles.

Our law does not allow to do as we have to follow some restrictions, when we

are@ public place, only exception is Former odyssey dancer Protima Bedi, had

done this @ one of the famous beach of India.

But, it's the rare incidence, happened in India.

Would wemen like it?

Do they want to come out topless?

There might be a few females across the globe who would want to and the question is whether they would want the same if the world is without men?

Like people at times break rules for attention and Mr. Pradeep started this debate, if not...

Mr.Pradeep Sehwag, please see a psychiatrist immediately.

We have some moral and ethical values. In foreign countries like US,UK,Japan etcc like developed countries women too wearing top while they are moving out from home. Here we are Indians. you people know how-much we will give respect to the women in society. On the road side one boy and one girl without dress means then what we will do?. ready to give a peace of cloth to the girl first because of respect on women. I think u all can understand the ethical values.
