So can you talk about equality if reservation for women exists? Can you talk about equality if the capital punishment is abolished for women? Can you talk about this equality if in trains and buses women reserved compartments and seats are available? Can you talk about equality if your son is thrown out of college because of false allegation from a girl? If you cant then stop pitying these worthless women who except than looking good are actually good for nothing.

Men is the ideal person to work at night, they can roam, dislocate.switchover when they like to change their job.Women every now and then need a person to look after, drop them and pick up them,It is critical when it is worst in younger days,Women is working but father and mother is working in home without sleeping. It is cruel to women community, like abroad it may change in future

Why so? Why she should be barred at all? A corporate is a kind of culture where humans work. After all men are humans, not beasts, LOL. Such topics are just mere a result of narrow-mindedness which must be changed. Ask this with a woman who is a boss of office where work goes at night, you will get the answer.

There are a large number of companies that are reportedly forcing ladies into unpleasant activities. The victims are usually the candidates who come from poor condition, who wittingly or otherwise fall prey to this. Night shift is just ploy for this activities. Many of these ladies are no position to defend themselves. Again I agree one has to look at the working environment before passing judgment on the whole lot of companies having ladies as night shifts. Many of them are extremely professional and take care of their night staff. Hence night shifts need not be barred but it should not be mandatory as Vinoy earlier proposed. It should be left for the individual to check her environment before opting for night jobs. Any organization enforcing mandatory night shifts for women should be pulled up.

Please do not misunderstand the stand of barring night shift as questioning the morality of concerned person. Frankly to casting a blanket label on any group is utter madness. I definitely do not wish to hold on to such blanketing. I am sure most of my colleagues on this side of the debate did not mean the same when they chose to debate the issue. It is just a practical, short term step needed to stem the number of aharassement cases. This does not tantamount to labeling any person immoral. Please be clear about it. Frankly our society is still in a churning stage regarding the topic and it will take a while for the process to gain credible stage. Hence the stop-gap arrangement.

Yea, if women are not provided the security they deserve. In a society where the Indian womenfolk have turned ultra modern raising eyebrows and what not amongst the Indian menfolk, letting them work at nights may instigate violence and harassment. However, the question of equal employment opportunity to women does not arise here at all as long as they are given equal opportunity to get to a rank similar to the Indian menfolk. We are not barring them from work but majorly barring them from working during nights given the present rising trends in sexual harassment and loopholes in the security systems.

I am sorry if I have offended anybody with my stand on the debate and my due apologies for the same. It is not my desire to disenfranchise the womenfolk. In fact, I recognize the success story of the last 2 decades have been to a large extent due to empowerment of the fairer sex. I was just putting forward a practical way to deal with the atrocities committed on females over the last 2/3 years in the metros. Renashmi, it is wonderful to see youngsters like you confident enough to take on any acts of impropriety. And I will retract my stand on women barring at night shift. But, let me make it clear that night shifts should not be mandatory for ladies and as Murthy Sir mentioned the company should be liable to provide traffic and security for those ladies who decide to work at night. I am confident that the working women of our generation is empowered to take the call depending on the profile of the company and comfort zone they can enjoy with the task on hand.

Shameena I appreciate your insight but I'll refrain to correct that seemingly irresponsible but hard true fact which was brought to focus. This is happening and I guess you will have the psychological parity with the concept that when a person is grounded too below he takes a blast and this is the day when I took the blast and I will not bother to take responsibility of the consequences of that. I am not selected by a women recruiter in a company because of a bullshit alibi that I have no knowledge of English where her knowledge was kind of childish. I won't spare these arrogant, stupid, ill-minded and dumb women whatever.

Okay let's not entertain these stupid women workers who at one hand want's to work at night and get themselves on the beds of seniors and managers on the other hand if anyone out of her office touches out of mistake they shout like they have been molested. Well there is enough we men have done to them now just kick their demands. How much would we the men with more power and intelligence bend to them? I have made my mind if there will be a girl asking questions and telling me a bullshit alibi for not hiring I'll just psychologically molest her badly. Women are just good to look at only and this is why they get selected and promoted faster irrespective of their dumb brains.

yes.. b'coz if that can not letrelly eliminate the issue of violence against women, it will definetly help to keep the situation under stock. Ms sheetal is ignoring other side of the coin here. Implementing rules for the safety of women does override her entitlement of freedom. The rule in many cities to close the liquor shops agter 8 pm is to check the level of crime, not to prohibit sale of liquor.

Rules are not framed to discriminate or promote somebody by gender, religion etc.Rules are framed to safeguard the subject, promote peace and security. These are aimed at benefiting the mass.Further, absolute is not guaranteed to anybody nor is it possible. You are free to express your view ,it does not mean you will speak coarse to other.you free to move on the road ,will you walk in the middle of the road and say I am free.Of course not.our freedom or right is relative term. Therefore ,I support the motion.

"Equality,Freedom to work and discrimination to women",all these statements are very sweet to read and write, but very hard to digest.A Foreign woman delegate raped, when she attended for a Film Festival in Delhi. An IT woman employee raped in a cab at Duala Kuan near Delhi. An IT woman employee raped and murdered by a cab driver in Bangalore. A number of acid attacks taking place in Andhra Pradesh and so on. Our Police force is not adequate to prevent these crimes. It is appaling to note the ratio stands at one constable for 1000 citizens. They are engaged with multiple duties like providing security to V.V.I.P's,V.I.P's,M.P's,M.L.A's,Cotrolling Bandhs,Agitations,Investigating Crimes and so on.When there is no protection in the broad day light,is it possible for a woman to protect herself at night? I am not commenting with pessimism, but with reason and considering prevailing atmosphere in our society. If a woman is capable of protecting herself, dare enough to face anti socials and bring them to book, she is at liberty to work any time.

Today, our economy is driven from night-shift work, meaning our people are virtually connected to the Europe and the USA. Instead of dis-allowing women to work in night shifts, we should think of providing better security cover to them during transit, trouble-free working environment, so that they contribute 100% to the corporate objectives. Otherwise, most of their time is spent thinking about security aspects, which may result in lower productivity!

Every thing should take normal and easy.If security only is kept priority then other factors will also consider which is nor essential,Give freedom to work at any time leave old and useless rules.Let the rape and sexual abuse made and other difficulties will give her better power to protection .

i am not for complete no and a complete yes. Because in today's cost of living, we need two earning members to run a family and lead a decent life.Girls who are often work either because of their need to support their family menbers(siblings, parents, etc) would definitely have to accomodate to the working hours of the office or an organization. The onus lies on those inidividuals to take a call on working on the night shift jobs. Providing secuirty is not the only solution. The onus lies with young woman, and girls to show a sense of decorum and be more well-dressed, especially when the working hours are in the night. We cannot dictate safety rules and practise, Safety and exerting caution is driven by the Self or an individual. So woman should draw the line..

It depends on what sort of work. Healthcare professionals cannot forefeit night duties. Toruism and outsoruced work gets done sometimes during night shifts. If we had state of the art campuses female students need to use the library during late hours, then in western socities they have escort services to whom the female can make a phone call when about to leave the library and a male from the escort service department will accompany the girl to her dorm or home outside campus.

Most of the restrictions are due to the inefficiency of the goverment. As the goverment is not sure about your safety so those restrictions are imposed . Equality rights will be there only if a man do not look at other women or lady as a sex object .All people must have clear intentions then only women will be free. In GUJRAT during night hours specially while NAVRATRAS entire nite ladies move freely without fear , India must be like this then only we can be equal in correct manner.

Sheetal though I agree with you but after all it is Indian Society and it is very difficult to impose rules and protection to ladies in night any where in India hence there should be shift which starts at say 10 p.m and finishes at 6.00 am. Answer : Increase security for those ( both males and females ) who work at night. Working at night is unsafe for both men as well as women. It would help those women who are willing to earn even if job is in night shift ( but can't do so due to tag of "immoral" or guardian's concerns) And at the same time, won't allow those woman, to give excuse when it's their turn to work at night. ( Personally i have seen this in companies, where guys have to do the night shift of their female collegues giving the reason that females can't come at night). As night working is always hectic as compared to day, conflicts do occur due to such partiality.

No one in this world has the authority to take away the freedom of others. @ Sheetal - In this current Era women are capable of doing anything. why do you girls need security when girls can learn to protect them on their own.
