Duranto trains were expected to run nonstop helping commuters save travel-time and stoppage related hassles. They been successful would surely be an overstatement.Technological gap needs urgent attention if we are serious in keeping the term "Duronto" alive.

they will be successful as the passenger travelling from the first station till the last will get all the seats means if you travel from mumbai to kolkata, all the 72 births will be allocated to passengers travelling from mumbai to kolkata.. in regular trains, the mumbai to kolkata quota will be hardly 30% of the no. of births so getting a confirmed ticket here is possible....

hi surabhi,

well duronto trains will be successful becoz all the births will be allocated to the passenger boarding from the first station till the final destination... i will take a small example here when we travel from mumbai to kolkata, are you aware how much is the quota of kolkata from mumbai? its about 30% of the coach no of births...so when you have all 72 births travelling to kolkata, everyone prefers the same train during peak season & you know that getting confirmed ticket is possible here....

Dear Surabhi,

Every train is not expected to benefit all.

For that matter would you say Rajdhani must stop at all station midaway?

Fast trains are for major stations connectivity and link trains can very well supplement stations in the way.

Though I've not yet travelled by one such...I can state from experience, that without upgrading technology esply signalling and track, and also tarined staff, this will not work in our country.

Of course introduction of any new trains and especially Duronto type of trains is a welcome signal for Delhiites.  When you try any train plying between Delhi and Chennai such as Tamilnadu Express, GT and Garib Ratan this addition is also a welcome sign to all commuters.

Yes we need these kind of high end trains to make our railway system more efficient. Indian railways is one of the effective way of transport but due to poor technology we are not able to meet the needs. So we badly need technology in the Indian railways......

Thanks...

Thanks for the Referral Mr.Ravindra Ji.

The better technology is always welcomed by all. However, non-stop means the train should have a separate rail track in order to avoid other unwanted incidents like derailment and train accidents.

According to me Duronto trains will not be successful in a country like India. Because it is still a developing country and many are from rural areas. If you run a non-stop train, they will not be benefited. So it is better with the present system but we can bring some good technology in trains which will be more efficient than the present......
