It is possible that project managers' can entrust BA work (provided a full time BA is not in place or one the company is looking to recruit) to Developers (having exemplary development experience) when they attributes strong business analysis work trend from their own experience and experience learnt / gained from their peers. Also here the project manager has to take a calculated risk when opted to so.

Qualification is not base in SW development , it is only base ur idea & short time working

But BA is require to his communication skin ....

A software enginner as BA is a good combination as he himself can handle the technical aspects, which saves time and money.

I would prefer an SW Engg to become a 'technical' BA after a few years (assuming you have associated business knowledge) or a Systems Analyst or Architect, however both of the latter roles generally also require increasing business and technical knowledge....

A software engg. has a benefit that he has acquittance with technology and has some exposure to functional side, a small training can make him much better professional
