Comparing the 2D maps of bot Microsoft and google earth, my vote is for the MS bing maps. This is mainly due to the pricing flexibility provided by Microsoft. The enterprise edition of google maps have just a single pricing mode while the MS maps have a variety of pricing options depending on your business needs. Also the maps were pretty accurate. I'm not sure about the frequency of updations though. have not used the 3D versions, so not sure about it - John

Microsoft Virtual Earth 3D is better in some regards than Google Earth. Virtual Earth 3D is visually definitely very impressive. Running directly in the browser Microsoft currently feature 15 US cities (like Seattle, Boston, Atlanta and San Francisco) in 3D, fully texture mapped 3D direct from the server. Virtual Earth's building detail is a lot finer than Google Earth's. When it comes to touring abilities Virtual Earth is better.

The Google Earth is still a better, reliable, purposeful and more trusted model as compared to Microsoft Virtual Earth 3D. Would take time for Virtual Earth to play catchup I guess, however woudnt discount an equally competitive improvised Microsoft offing down the line.

I trust more on Google products than of Microsoft. They are more vulnerable than any other IT product in the world. May be attacked more due to mass usage.

The service about search and who is bigger and/or better than Google at search? Nobody. "Nobody Does it better" I am happy with Google Earth. It is lightweight considering the purpose and functionality, easy to use, intuitive, and already have a large user base. MS Virtual Earth is good functionally but needs to install Silverlight which is not good.
