Agree with Satwinder You Tube no doubt is an excellent form of media, but cannot replace TV. Since it is for the Internet users and the way it's getting popular, may be more and more people will get diverted towards it's features.. You Tube is just a streaming video available on Internet..
But in case TV manufacturers came up with an idea of having Internet ready TV's. My youtube is millionaire727

Agree with you Aditya. The producers are coming to all new technologies to reach more and more people in all possible means. Thats why the Movies on demand started long back as business and now it is flourishing in India as well. Still the major returns (ROI) from the common ways, movies ROI from theators, adds from TV. All major shows, news, events, sports, adds, lounchings are covered widely on TV programs. The revnew/money generated by TV business is far far more than revenew generated by Internet or YouTube. The TV on Internet is another media to reach the tech savvy people. This is an additional methods to cater a alrge group of people. But this is no way a replacement of traditional approach of TV due to its vast reach, large cover and flexibilities.

Thanks everyone for your participation......Highly appreciated !!!
I agree atul to some extent but what my point was how industry & consumers are moving......
With 1000 channels to choose from, you don't watch TV, actually you surf on TV sets. And that makes the future of television fully integrated with the internet. Honestly the way we watch television has changed immensely in recent years. And television doesn’t just live in our TV’s anymore: it is now also readily available online. Future of Television is both wired - IPTV and wireless - 3G. It is everything and anything at any time. It is even more channels and more user-generated content. The future is on whatever device you want (or can afford). It is also global, mobile, responsive, customized, personalized, interactive, truly on-demand, and incredibly social.
Some might say that this view is hopeful and impossible due to the way the industry operates today. But, if the internet continues to give power to the people, television will soon have no option but to follow...........

Of course this will help in a great extent. I myself miss many of my favourite programmes because of my schedule. But I never worry because I very well know that I can get them in you tube. In other words, I became Youtube addicted and have not watched TV from almost a year now. But I have no worries since I not only come to know what are the latest programmes but also can watch them in youtube. I need not even go to cinema halls for movies since I can see them in youtube free of cost!!!The only thing I miss is live cricket matces. Thats it :)

Couldnt it be called a new form of HOME ENTERTAINMENT??? I think it is a btilliant idea. Looking at the popularity and the wide apectrum of audiences available on You Tube... Warner is doing good thinking!! It is also a very premium service that would take birth amassing excellent opportunities to make it PAY PER VIEW as well!!! Super idea and thanks for making us aware of this wonderful move by Warner... :))

There are quite a few professional content producers already moving towards onilne distribution, due to coverage and interactivity. Moreover, merging technologies will ensure usage and popularity. Programming will take on a standard format for various devices, including television.

I personally feel that this model would definitely work as it gives you the convenience of watching the shows on your own timings, moreover you would not have to worry about missing anything as you would be able to pause, rewind and fast forward. It gives a level of interactivity that TV can not offer.

India is a third largest television household country in the world. As per studies India has 119 million TV household (number of viewers would be double if we consider two person per household), out of those 50% are cable household. It is also increasing at a rate of 4% per year. On the other hand we have only 40 million active internet users. Out of these only 32% use the internet for Video or for music content. This is very less then the number of TV viewers. Yes as Jayant said trend is changing more and more people go to Youtube, because it can serve what you want and when you want. It is as per our convenience. But if you see fact and figures it is still a way back from TV in India.

A TV service is something which is needed on a day to day life. It has a vast vast reach than YouTube or so. TV are seen even in villages where there is no light/electricity. It has its own objectives which can't be replaced by YouTube. You tube has its own features, advantages which are used by various companies to utilise it to increase the reach to masses. But YouTube is not a replacement of TV event in coming decades.
