This open R&D Community has been created after an FP7 R&D project named HEALBUTNOHARMS under the topic "HEALTH-2009-3.1-2: Improve quality and safety of hospital care" failed twice its attempt to be submitted to the European Community, in September 2007 and December 2008. The project HEALBUTNOHARMS - 'A healthcare evidence-based approach to learning basic and universal troubleshooting of nosocomial operation: hospital accident-grounded risk management for safety', proposes to make use of a particular methodological way: empirical, based on the state and trend evidences of legal accidents, exploring all-around the complexity of the hospital system and directed towards translational research. The method, quantitative, either in the descriptive phase of research (risk-impact mapping) or in the explanatory one (risk-factors regression/modelling) ensures objectivity, reliability, accuracy of measurement, repeatability and - after all - higher effectiveness. The informatics technological (IT) support is expected to be important in ensuring successful completion of the project. The data target is the class of risks with high total impact (i.e. risk index).
