This was a recent news published in ET which I think should be brought up elsewhere, so I thought of letting the platform members know about this...

It's not without reason that the security agencies continue to eye Huawei with suspicion. For, the Chinese firm’s R&D facility in Bangalore operates with a secrecy so intense that a larger part of its premises are completely out of bounds for Indians.

At Huawei Technologies’ R&D facility in Bangalore, only the ground and first floors are reportedly accessible to Indian staff. The floors beyond can be accessed only by the Chinese executives and managers, a top intelligence official told ET.

Though Chinese form only a minuscule percentage of Huawei India’s staff at the Bangalore facility, it is they who enjoy exclusive and unrestricted access to R&D office’s top floors. There is not much information on what equipment is tested and what goes on in the ‘Chinese-only’ parts of the building. But intelligence agencies have noticed how Chinese employees of Huawei often have an extended stay in Bangalore for months together.

Though attempts were made by security agencies a few months ago to probe the purpose behind these long-drawn business trips by the Chinese staff of Huawei to Bangalore, they were told curtly that the Chinese were staying on to learn and master English!

So, what do you think people how we can control such discrepancies from happening, where Foreign firms are not allowing Indians to access what actually happens inside their R&D facility?? Who knows they might be doing something fishy which we will come to know when we can't repair the damage which which if it happens.

Indian Government should keep any eye on all the MNC's in India.....

idea posted by Sonam Kapoor Software Developer, IBM

This has made news just because it was a chinese company and we can't take any thing lightly if it has to do with china, as on many occasions we have seen China hacking into Indian agencies and tried to hack the army data. So we never know who is doing what in these MNC's in their R&D facility and why only chinese executives are allowed to access those places where Indians in India are not allowed, there is surely something fishy happening in Huawei and thats why Indian government is trying to probe them.

Thanks for the referral Ms. Sonam kapoor.

Yes I agree with you and the Indian Govt should keep her eyes opened. Wherever possible there must be a system in place for scanning & surveillance.Prevention is better than cure.

As many MNCs are coming to India the government surely should keep an eye on companies coming from China which is famous for using technology to get the classified information from other countries

Not alone in Asia in all parts of the world there is a keen talk about the economy of both china and India. It's constantly known that India and China is threat to each other. As this move of china should definitely a threat to India. What ever they do will affect India in some ways. So it's highly cautious for the India government to keep eye on all the activities of china. Its useless by thinking about, after it has happened.

KICK THEM OUT !

idea posted by Jaygopal Raghavan Marketing Manager, Landmark Group

Simply kick them out. Whichever company it is, big or small, MNC or local, they have to first obey the law of the land. This is the norm anywhere in the world. And if they dont, we dont have to show them any sympathy. How on earth can a company have certain floors restricted to only the chinese people ?

Somewhere down the line we have lost our self respect and the ability to defend ourselves. Can you imagine such a thing happening in China. We are the gracious host forever never mind the number of times we get F***** because of that (sorry for the language). What i cant understand is why is all our media keeping silent about the whole thing. Where is the great NDTV that used to rally for Green run and the likes of it ?

I think we should instead spread this message through our own network and blogs.

A small opinion

Both the ideas are not as good to my opinion. Because, controlling MNCs is not going to happen in any country until the the military take control of India's internal affairs that influence protection of citizens. The MNCs are funding all the political parties in India for their good. The politician don't want to hurt them, but we can control them to a limit.

International boundary is not followed by any neighbor of India. We can only try to make some noise if China make a move but we are not in a position to attack and defeat them as they are too strong in weapons and forces (Atleast in paper). Except all other countries Indian intelligence (RAW)  is not under our military, its managed by IPS and IAS persons. They see it as a sheltor when political conditions in their states get worse. If the siuation is correct, they will go to enjoy the freedom in their states. So no regular officer is there to watch.

Intelligence work has to be done by experienced hands and persons devoted and trained for that, not by some stupids. All others are doing this under the army and so they are the best. Like Mosad of Isreal for what ISI of Pakistan is under their army.

China always have some aims with their companies in India. They don't want us to a threat in Asia. So its upto us to help our country. Its the people who build the government not vise versa. So its our duty to protect our country. If the employees in the  Huawei decide, they can collect some information about what kind of activities is going on. Our media is too strong and if they got it they will react immediately. So there are chances to do it ourself to compel the government to take action. Think about it.

Supervision by Indians.

A good topic Ms Sonam, I think the government should make laws that Indians should have access in the R&D  unit. All the R&D should be authorized and done in the presence of Indian staff.

We are Indians where we are very much protected by a strong government. Recently we have read or heard news of the Google maps. showing different boundaries of India and China published in two countries. I strongly believe this is a subject to be handled by government diplomats.  Let us have faith in our government...

We need to strengthen our diplomacy with China. News about the Chinese excesses are time and again reported in theborder states of Arunachal Pradesh, which Indian government also knows. Their movements are constantly monitored and reported. Obviously our BSF or Army can hardly do anything as the will to handle them rest with our political masters. Through diplomatic channel only can we bring this kind of problem to an end, not otherwise. We cannot stand Chinese aggression!
