There are three things you need when you leave your house, your keys, wallet, and your mobile phone. Over the last decade the mobile phone has become indispensable, and our primary method of communication. As smart phone technology reaches higher level of adoption, it opens up a world of new opportunities including email, web, and mobile applications. It’s become more than a tool just to keep in touch, but more of a productivity tool.

And with the entire market being flooded with Smartphones regulary and just when you thought you have heard everything about futuristic technology, if you thought touchscreen was a great feature on Mobile phones, think again, future might just blow you away with technology that we will see, so I would like to ask users here like, after touchscreen what's next in store for mobile technology? where it will head, what are the possibilities that there can be in this small segment of innovation in technology of Mobile phones? Nanotechnology phones

idea posted by Sonal Singh Project Manager, Nortel Networks

Yes Radha today we are seeing too much of development in this segment where too much of innovation is happening in Mobile phone segment, and I agree that mobile phones have become a indispensable part of our day to day lives, and I am totally against the innovation happening in Mobile phones, and I have also created debate on the same lines, like stop inventing mobile phones, as there is no proper infrastructure to support all the modern phones that are coming into the market, But then as you have asked where it will head, I would like to post a video and nothing much, and that explains for you everything....

Thanks Nitin & Makrand for your comments, if something like this Nanotechnology comes up as this is still in the concept stage we might see some breakthrough in this segment. and what others have suggested are also equally good,

Voice recognition for dialing and full control

idea posted by Satwinder Singh Program Manager, Confidential

A voice recognition is newly added to the cellphones for locking/unlocking/ single line usage, etc.. It can be used for multiple functions such as dialing, recording, for clicking, for making movies, for barring the number, for diverting, etc..!!

If we look at the science fiction, we might require a system which is controlled by Voice. just like Robots, our cell phone can act like a robot too!!

voice recog & then....

idea posted by Rahul Gupta B.Tech/B.E. student, Dronacharya College of Engg., Gurgaon

The mobile should be good enough to recognise actions through voice. I am dreaming of mobile tech that can sense actions only by having a thought of them in the brain of the user.

Coming are the days we are going to see the mobile as a mini computer with good storage capacity,applications/tools that make our life simpler, very good OS and processor to meet the accessing needs. We will spend more time on mobile than on laptop/computer in future

Breath controlled phones

idea posted by Radha Sundaram Sales/BD Manager, Bharti Airtel

In a recent news I came across an article which blew me away, and that was the reason why I created this Idea contest to see what users think of it and what are the endless possibilities in Mobile technology after touchscreen phones, and I got a clue for the next generation technology from that article itself.

Aan American company is developing breath controlled technology for cell phone. This revolutionary technology, Sensawaft, developed by Zyxio, could soon aid hands-free mobile phones apart from other gadgets. You can move a cursor or character around a screen with as much accuracy as a finger moving a mouse. And this is one such technology which we can see after touchscreen hitting the market.

idea posted by Ravinder Pundir Sr. Consultant/Business Analyst, Cisco Systems

I recently come across a article where people are talking about this smart device which is going to be launch in the near future may be u will find it shortly in ur mobile shop near to ur house...what you can do with a touch screen, camera, scanner, WiFi, and google maps.View a building through it, and it gives you all the information about that building....Choose a building and touch a floor and it tells you more details of the building. You can use it when you want to know a car model, an insect name, what kind of food is served at a restaurant and how much, who built a bridge, etc. etc.
It’s got a scanner built in...so you can use it this way when you want to check the meaning of a word in the newspaper, book, magazine, etc. It would be much easier to read a real book. You can use the dictionary, wikipedia, thesaurus and anything else available on the web....... It would be much easier to read a real book. You can use the dictionary, wikipedia, thesaurus and anything else available on the web....

However, no such device has been created by Google. In fact, as yet, no such device actually exists. The images included in the message represent a conceptual design for the future of Internet search created by Mac Funamizu, a web and graphics designer based in Tokyo, Japan. In February 2008 Mac Funamizu published his design concept in an article on his blog titled "Future of Internet Search: Mobile version". He illustrated the concept with a series of images showing how such a device might work and noted as an introduction:

This is what I wish the internet search will be able to do with a mobile device in the NEAR future. Touch screen, built in camera, scanner, WiFi, google map (hopefully google earth), google search, image search… all in one device.

I think there would be real challenge we could see in this space if such kind of devide is in the development process somewhere..
