In my view, study theory & practice from other people but when you do real work think about yourself based on your knowledge & experience.

For eg. I use water fall model to difine system scope & requirement in some case & implements this with test driven development.

So There is no best way to do for all. The method to do best is depend on situation, requirement & so many factors. You must adjust theory, experience & idea.

A project requires team effort and evryone's contribution is important.

Communication - With the client, stakeholders & team is critical and basic necessity for any project to succeed. This does not include only timely communication, but equally important is to record and convey the correct messages to the receiver.

Task & Time Management - Ensure that you are following a calendar and following the tasks & time spends very closely. This would also include the task and time management of self, team and stake holders

Follow the Processes by the Book - Very essential to have a structured approach to your project management. The more processes we follow, the more are our chances to succeed.

Ensure that you are on top of all Details - Particularly in the formative stages of the project such as pre-sales, pre-project and requirement gathering phases. You have to be particular that you understand and record each and every detail to perfection. The more accurate your project planning & documentation, the more successful your project will be.

In my view, Project is not a packet of a single item, like Time, Effort, Dedication, Planning, Communication and many more; it is a bundle of such things which takes you to the success. If any of those is missing then it may take u to the unsuccessful.

In general what is project, Service to the Client/Customer or requirement of the need which is going to be performed in specified criteria. So how can you satisfy you’re Customer/Need? by giving a lot of time, dedication, a good communication or a lot of effort……? To manage a project we need all this things and it should be applied according to the situation depending upon the scenario or requirement of the client/Customer.

Applying all together depending upon the scenario is the best practice of the Project management which cannot be complete until and unless Customer/Client Satisfaction.

Safety: Safe Work practices has to be an integral part of the project execution phase. It not only increases the confidence of the team working within but also develops a culture for the entire Industry.

Quality: Concious efforts for better quality of work not only leads to reduction of rework, but also saves Cost & Time.

Corporate Social Responsibility: CSR has to be an integral part of each & every project as we need to give back returns to the community of which we are a part. Better relation will lead to reduced hindrances & healthy environment.

One of the best project management practice that has helped me is open communication with required transparency and sincerity in stake holder management and treating vendors as equal partners.

If u have a proper knowledge,you can speak .Time and Cost are the most important attributes now a days.You should have a sense of proper timing.You should know What to speak and when.If you are saving cost at this point of recession,then you are the best.

whether it is team process or project management plans, make sure they are tailor made to meet the needs / objectives of the project. Most organizations have a simple set up which they allow a project manager to customize to suit the needs of the project and the project team.

The team must respect you as a proactive solution provider for all their needs.

Communication with the client and team is very important for any project to head-start and complete smoothly. Moreover it is also significant the approach followed in putting across a point to the client and explaining the same to the team in different manner and with clarity.

Secondly, you need to coordinate your team well. Empower and trust them with things. When you see the good thing in the other person, appreciate it, the person reciprocates showing good results.

Lastly, the direction and depth of the project should be under constant check. PM has the steering wheel in his hand & has to handle it well.
