Comparing stocks at two points in time, and analysing the difference as caused by quantity changes and as caused by rate changes can show some interesting results.

Inventory balance at the end of a period along with value can be maintained with BI. The inventory balance data would be by dimensions of business unit, location, warehouse etc., and the transaction data would summarize by the same dimensions. The arithmetic accuracy of this data will help in eavulating the performance and reduce cost.

How does one analyze how quickly inventory has been consumed after it was purchased? This could give a good indication of the entire procurement process. If the inventory was purchased and consumed after many days, it may mean that the organization is incurring a holding cost. Inventory Holding Cost Analysis can be helpful in reducing this cost.
