Many of us suffer from some or the other work phoibas. Few of them remain for life time and some change with time. Have you ever encountered any such phobias??

I think it depends on every individual and their attitude because every fresher has got some basic knowledge about his field and he can get advantage of experience of his boss by commitment and punctuality at work place so the boss can get some support by the new candidate so he could get some relief from the work load .Then every boss will share his experience with junior staff to get better result .

Yes, it happens with every fresher who just started working, but it is not necessary that this phobia will go with time,I have seen so many people who still have fear from their bosses even after many years of working.This happens only in two cases, first if the employee is not performing his jobs on time or in an efficient manner as he can and 2nd when employee is still underestimating himself by thinking he is a boss and I should fear from him, as he can fire me anytime. This is the main reason which leads to boss phobia. But what I do believe & follow is, we are the employees of the company, who helps the organization in achieving its predefined goals and better growth. We are not slaves to the company, who should not have any right to say or express their views & suggestions in front of the boss. Nobody can work like a slave, I never let this come in my mind that he is my boss and I should follow him whether he is right or wrong and I should scare from him, in such way we won't enjoy our work. So I think we all should work freely without any fear, so that we enjoy whatever we are doing and keep ourselves happy to survive in this scenario.

Honestly, this is worker phobia

idea posted by Munshi Ramchand Retired
A good boss will not bully (or allow somebody else to bully) his employees. Once, this does not happen, then it is just the question of 'working as a team', or trying to achieve a goal 'together'. So, boss phobia is basically 'fear of workers/subordinates/employees' by the boss and hence it has to be fixed by the boss.

I think its Growth and job security which creates work phobia within employees, as if we talk about pvt sector there is lot of competition and in order to get growth and positive appraisal completing given projects is very important....apart from this job security may be another reason for this as if you don't complete your projects or assignments in time , company will going to lay you off........

Achieving the goal within the time frame

idea posted by Koushik Chakroborty ...., Actively searching for job openings in HR
Mostly visible in 'Sales' (product or concept) oriented jobs and also in other industries where Business Development, Client Retention, Money Flow is primarily dependent on 'Deliverance on a set Time-frame', employees feel the stress and thus arises the Fear/Phobia on the consequences of 'if I'm not able to achieve the goal within the time frame'.

Boss phobia

Biggest work phobia is Boss phobia. A person who is competent and ready to work will never worry about job security and growth always happens. It is also true that when a person quits a job, it is not the organisation that he/she quits, but he/she leaves the boss.

With the times being turbulent, even if you have a good job, unemployment hangs like a spectre over your head. This thought keeps you from having a lackadaisical approach to your work. It should keep you motivated to perform better lest you lose your current job !

A mixture of everything

idea posted by JOGINDER SINGH CHANDNANI CSS (Customer Service Specialist), Infiniti Retail

* Grievances with bosses.

* Colleagues can become a phobia if one is a newcomer or under performer.

* The pending assignments or other commitments (if they are too physically or mentally hectic)

* Handling Politics at work.

And as per one of the studies it is real illness and require real treatment before it leads to Anxiety.

YES BOSS PHOBIA...DISPEL THE QUANDARIES

idea posted by Sairam. M System Administrator

ITS IN EVERYONE's MIND, I HAVE COME ACROSS MANY TIMES, IN SPITE OF BEING A PAST MASTER AT ALL WORKS.

EITHER FEAR OF LOSING A JOB SINCE HE/SHE IS A BOSS OR THINGS MAY GO WRONG AT WORK PLACE (SOMETIMES BOTH) FRIGHTENS A PERSON AS LONG AS ONE WORKS IN AN ORGANIZATION.

IT IS BETTER FOR AN EMPLOYEE TO BE PATIENT, HAVE EQUANIMITY, THEN BOSS AND EMPLOYEE WILL ALWAYS BE AT GOOD TERMS.

UNDERSTAND YOUR BOSS

Just as,we want to be understood by our bosses,we should also take some time to understand our boss.If he is knowledgeable,willing to mentor,be a taskmaster,we can learn a lot from him. If he is only bossing around,not guiding us,and a nagging type,we need to find ways out. A simple analysis is worth it.

Being a woman, there is always the fear that you are being maniutlated and that you don't deserve what is due to you. It is the pawn feeling of the employee that gets the better of him or her, uncertainty, and mistrust of the employer's real intentions.

BOSS Phobia

idea posted by Sumeeta Mukherjee Finance Manager, Veera Techno Trec Pvt. Ltd.
Boss phobia is cretaed due to the insecurities that stay in our subconscious as well as the conscious mind. I feel that any relationship be it a professional or a personal starts with a kind of fear, anxiety and uncertainities and later on if it persists for a long time say six months or more this develops to Phobia

Thank you Divya for refering it to me.It is very concerened subject for everyone.First of it is employee's own boldness that is depends on childhood brought up & family's defined accountabilty that one set in mind.Need for job for financial need in envoironment of job scarsity.Boss phobia is primary one (but not all) depends on Type of job & established system of work culture, induction training their off, Individual skill & experience.But Boss's mentorship attitude is also important.

Work itself

idea posted by AMISH Admin/Facilities Manager, VKVC
I find it strange that everywhere i see employees act as if they are busy working when the boss is around and once the boss is not there, they are quick to gathre around and indulge in empty talks and brag about how important they are to the company. So i feel that their biggest aversion while at work is work itself. Other than work they would indulge in any kind of activity.
