A lot of care has to be taken while building a brand or a product. We can carry out a survey if the brand / product is not working. We must carry out a survey only with the DIRECT Consumer, citing the reasons of its failure. & We should also try to implement the suggestions suggested by them. |

Whenever things go bad it is quite common to blame the advertising or marketing for it. Rather than indulging in a blame game, one has to sit and analyse where things went wrong - was it the pricing, packaging, distribution or the quality itself. Once you have answers to the above, re-work your methodologies to better it and then re-use some of the old ideas which you would have thrashed thinking for a hot and new product one needs a path breaking idea. Re-use your old distribution channels which have worked well for you in the past. If there was a bulk consumer whom you lost due to that extra bit that he demanded - be it price or some add on - approach him again. If all of the above fail, simply ditch that product rather than contuining to invest in it and move on to other things. |

we have to find out the negative aspects that led to not working. Once we are able to take the threads surrounding the negatives, the solutions will automatically emerge to resolve it.

AS AMIT HAS RIGHTLY POINTED OUT EVERY PRODUCT HAS ITS PLC.IT BECOMES THE MANUFACTURERS RESPONSIBILITY TO CONSTANTLY MONITOR THE PERFORMANCE OF THE BRAND IN THE MARKET PLACE,OBSERVE CHANGE IN MARKET CONDITIONS,CHANGE IN THE CONSUMER MENTALITY,INTRODUCTION OF SIMILAR PRODUCTS WITH INCREASED ADVANTAGE OR AT COMPARATIVELY LOWER PRICES AND REACT ACCORDINGLY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.THE MOMENT SALES GRAPH IS STAGNANT OR SHOWS A NEGATIVE TREND IMMEDIATE ACTION SHOULD BE TAKEN TO REWORK PACKAGING,IMPROVE PERFORMANCE OF THE BRAND.THESE WILL HELP PROLONG LIFE OF THE BRAND.

Once a brand/product is not working up to the expectation, then it has to be innovated. Consumer is a aam aadmi ‘Mango ppl’ and as I understand a human behavior is something you cant predict but yes the only thing predict that any consumer/user gets bored of any thing after some point of time unless/until its something extraordinary, this stage is assumed as Product Maturity stage. But if we resume things reposition them and bring a change for a user which persuade him and breaks monotype, my hunch is that the brand will work.
