Change at any level weather planned or unplanned has an unknow factor whose impact cannot be measured unless its implemented as associates have different receptive levels. But process maturity n implementation strategy can definitely reduce the implications Hence its important that Proposed Change is implemented on Phase by Phase basis. This helps in evaluation of a. Change acceptance b. Change Resistance C. Analysis of situation n help plan the next phase. |

I believe that unscheduled changes are often a major cause of service downtime,
especially if the changes are done quickly and without proper testing
or screening. Regularly scheduling changes can significantly reduce the
number of production problems, the number of IT staff members dedicated
to change management, and even the number of emergency changes made.

In my opinion, the more an organization can automate and schedule changes on a regular
basis, the less likely it will be that increases in the number of
changes will negatively impact the process

Companies that test changes in a formal testing environment are more
likely to catch problems that changes might cause. A test environment
can be expensive to develop and maintain, but because it provides an
available representation of the production environment, the environment
provides a more flexible “sandbox” that IT can use to minimize
emergency changes and their impact.

CHANGE is mostly regarded as some imposed deviation from the routine to meet a challenge. Thus change, as a part of crisis management effort, always attracts resistance or at least reluctance. Actually, the purpose of Change is to keep pace with Times. Everything changes with passage of Times. Change is a constant feature. All these are known but normally we do not apply these principles to our own organization. The Technology changes; customers change; their tastes and needs change; suppliers change; the conditions of business change; When everything else changes, how can our own organization remain without change? or how can there be only changes few and far between? Once proper philosophy of Change is developed within organization at all levels, the changes would not be frowned upon. They would be understood as part of normal functioning. That is, Change is not a measure to be taken up when circumstances force us; It should be anticipated, planned in advance and carried out in strides. An objection may arise. How can major changes that call for structural refinements and alteration in investment pattern etc., could be made a day-to-day affair? Are they not subject matter for detailed study by experts and drawing of separate plans for implementation? Agreed. Any change of such magnitude should be naturally dealt with due respect. But even such cases, the process of gauging the changes and the 'build-up' for them can be part of normal functioning. If the surprise element is avoided in respect of changes, it would go a long way to gain their acceptance.
