Disparity in Visual Media Entertainment norms

Visual Media is one area that influences children and society at large. TV Channels have succeeded in carving a niche for itself through TV Serials which have become a fad and part of the family nowadays.  When Films, censored by the Censor Board are restrained from presenting malicious scenes (though interpolations happen here and there), TV serials are off the hook and are simply left to show anything according to the whims and fancies of the Directors. They are not controlled by any legitimate norms or do’s and don’t’s, instead are free to telecast any scenes, be it extreme violence, bloodshed, suicide etc. Understanding that there are limitations in screening every following episodes, would you agree in suggesting that there should be predefined norms to control this disparity in visual media entertainment?
