At every workplace, there are people who indulge in petty politics - for scoring points over others, for getting choice postings, for having maximum increments, for securing the prized promotions, etc. These have a negative effect in the workplace as the efficient people who do not indulge in petty politics realise that they have been taken for a ride and their productivity drops. |

organizations means politics, diplomacy so politics at workplace is very common
No organization is free of politics and gossips.But it is not necessary at all that we as employees start taking sides and become involved in the prevailing politics. Similarly why anyone should lend ears to gossips.

since gossip may not be the fact........ it is waste in spending time........ instead it is better to concentrate on work.......
Very many distractions are available in Work-site such as distractions due to sound (continuously / intermitantly), Lightings(poor lights / glaring etc), work equipment used, social behavior as you mentioned Gossip, Bossism etc, personal conduct of co-workers (using glamorous dress, cell phone usage frequently etc.). Along list can be drawn on this subject. For productivity, these distractions are to be minimized. Of course, very few corporate bodies pay attention to this.

From the very day this creature called WOMEN entered the office premises the whole lot of DISTRACTION was fired. Fire every women and make them sit at homes the the productivity will increase as well as it will open opportunities for unemployed youths who are going on a wrong track or committing suicides.
Think about it deeply and you will surely realize that I am speaking right.

Wine, Women and Wealth are the distraction, but the biggest of em all are the Women who dress short and cut short our productivity as a result. But am not of the opinion that they should sit @ home. They are faced with the same struggles to run a family, esp. single moms. But however, they better dress properly else they are just not going to just distract but would trigger a host of evil deeds in men - not a sight to watch at all.

The biggest hurdle or distraction is mental make up.The moment one enters the work place,biological clocks start ticking.Such mentality gives rise to all sort of negative things.If one is sorted before leaving for workplace,distractions could be minimized.

This could be a corporate startegy to isolate n compell employees to leave. It might also be a test, but these stupid tests are time wasters.All workers, especially females,don't possess Machiavellian IDeals. 0

To my experience i have seen most of the so called chamchas of the higher ups have the tendencies to pamper the bosses ego for nothing and ultimately land up in some stupid job that need to be executed for the inefficient boss. This is the most prevailing thing happening along with of course greasing the palm etc has been the most common thing seen in the present hypocratic corporate world.

Healthy and good working atmosphere will give good -healthy productivity in work. Every body will work with productivity as well as result oriented. Working atmosphere includes enjoy, freedom, refreshments, entertainment, politics free,creative thinking, positive atmosphere where employee are talking about good things, enthusiasm towards work etc...so employee can able to think, work willingly and love with their job.Thanks Renne for referal

Walking in to office without a daily goal is the major distraction. Since the mind is not focused on one, it gets distracted into anything and everything, at the first excuse. Some organizations allow their employees to be free to take up any role during a certain period of time which results in the absence of a proper profile. In that case, it is quite possible that on many occasions one is clueless about the next responsibility. The solution, however, at the very moment when a distraction occurs is, to, sit down and think the process out. The next constructive idea is definitely going to occur you within an hour. However, chatting with a friend for some direction including exchange of pleasantries, while you are brooding over it at the back of your mind is not a bad idea at all.

Any unwanted corporate action will distract employees to their work. For example:- New employee recruited by company on same post with no extra experience but on hire package than you. It makes the employee mentally imbalance. similarly there are many other actions which will lead to distraction to work..

I think the main cause of distraction at workplace is when someone who performs well don't get desired appreciation or hike and the one who have links and good relation with managers get the better hike despite of his/her average performance..it distract serious employees who are working with full potential

One needs to prosper and for prosering she needs to focus on the work. But when we say focus there are many things which come in between. What are thes productivity reducers? What are the major distractions at work whihc do not let you finish your work in time and make you less productive?

Yes this has been a big culprit. Even when you do not indulge into it but listen still it wastes your time. You do not say anything because you do not want to sound rude but this harms you inturn.
