Chatting, blogging, conducting private conversations, etc are a part of our daily lives and many of us live in the virtual world of cell phones and networking sites and interact with each other through these mediums today, right?

But have we mastered the rules of courtesy while making optimum use of these technology tools, especially while we are at work?   There are a few behavioural patterns that could disrupt the environment for others in the office such as talking loudly on the phone, having ring tones that could be offensive and loud, spending inordinately large amounts of time on networking sites, etc must be avoided,” but do they understand these things, there are many disturbing employees who disrupt things for others in the workplace. So, how to solve this problem of disturbing employees at workplace??

Strict workplace policies

idea posted by Dipika Das Associate/Sr. Associate -(NonTechnical), ABC Consultants Private Limited

Though there are workplace policies, are people following them strictly, people after sometime become linient and let things get out of hand and then even after telling directly to the person causing disturbances on their face, they don't care and do the same thing or repeat it again and again to irk others around them and if some strict punishment is in place then atleast they will stop doing it, Managers should report it someone is disturbing the office environment, and if there are more remarks towards a disturbing employee strict action should be taken against them, if we don't do that then everybody will start to behave in a similar fashion and the workplace atmosphere will be disturbed and the productivity will go for a toss.

Dipika, Wishing you a very bright future in your professional career. Whole heartedly I support your logics. As quoted by you all such colleagues are nuisance to the organization and big hurdle for smooth functioning of other co-employees. Adding to you, there are some employees in the company who parallel y operate their personal endeavors in company hours. Such people to show off their additional earning try to emphasize on their superiority while talking on personal cell phones, that too loudly to impress upon others. They try to invite party, indulge in seeking favor from class IV staff while bribing them, involve them in influencing seniors with gifts, working for personal requirements of them, out of office activities, hosting small or cocktail parties try to disturb other devoted employees. In my views such people should seriously be bought in to the knowledge of management (as duty), and should be expelled out from the organisation. This would be certainly in favor of the company for better growth.

discussions

can there be one universal policy ? i wonder. but yes, there can be a common foundation. discipline is a must, both the self discipline kind and the enforced variety. ways could be many. maybe periodic open discussions where without pointing out individuals, the disturbing practices can be highlighted - and maybe so could the preventive measures. surely some of the answers could be extraxted from these guys themselves. and still if there is someone who is so painful that he won't change - he'll undersatand why a change of job has become essential.

you are absolutely right for armed forces but truly speaking is it really ther at all the levels ! AS in govt org people have developed a chalta hai attitude and started playing Kho kho game if not shakunis gesture to get the things done from seniors.

Dont you thing like european countires  unless there is grosss change of attitude and let the truth should prevail it is going ti be difficult are we not seeing our lying leaders that why not a common man!

proper distribution of work and leasure

Communication is necessary in a workplace both formal nad informal. but mixing work with leasure gets little difficult and disturbs other people. For little leasure cafateria or kind should be used rather than gossiping on seats.

Dear Ms Suchi,

The tech side of employees dont have time to take leisure because most of the factories are automated and producing online. Even assembling and finishing also done online. They have targets to complete on piece rate. They get bonus also. But in office atmosphere is not like that. Even service institutions also have workplace in common and need discussion. They will

I support your views Sheetal. Communication is really important at work place, then whether it is related to work or personal.

Work should be given in such a way that anyone hardly get a time for gossiping or talk other than work. Or u can gossiping in the coffee break or in lunch break.

separate cabins

idea posted by Karthik Sai Sundaram Senior Project Engineer, Qatar Petroleum
Usually if you have a cabin or entry to your workplace which can be restricted by you, you can avoid persons coming and disturbing you. Especially in India, where there is a culture to gossip and disturb others when one is not busy, this is a good solution. Although the cost of woodwork in offices as capital investment will be more intially, it will repay in the long run with greater productivity.

An idle brain is the devil's workshop. So keep everybody engaged and productive. Assess the employees work without partiality. Do not encourage back-biting. Assign work commensurate with the skills. At the sametime, fix the pay according to the productivity.
