Does use of green materials make a building green?

The powerful process and tool is the key requirement for any Green Building. I well understand the various question, confusion etc. come before freezing the building envelope. Today we have very powerful tool to check and measure the greenery of any building of the world.

Our NBC and other standard are not upto the mark. The powerful tool and process such as LEED / TERI GRIHA rating system is mandatory for any building.

Architects, Mechanical Engineers and local bodies should be extensively involved in formulation of green parameters,for designing a proposed structure. Deep study should be made to analyse,and evaluate whether the use of modern green building materials will prove economical or whether the traditional methods if used properly and to the quality will achieve the green parameters.

considering my shallow knowledge ,i may not be the most apt peron to come up with specific materials and design structure that save energy ,but definately refer to following blogs with valuble information on iy :-

in addition to that ,if right amendments are brought in force then energy consumption can be brought drastically .with limits set for individuals or industries over consumption ,will promote judicious use of energy among masses .another part is the availabilty ,rural masses are oblivious to sources that can save on energy ,so such components shold be made avilable there .furthermore, they should made aware of the consequences arising out of global warming and its cascading effect .

No.......  Acoording me for some extent ,a green building is suppsed be measured as per its performance.as we aal know a green building uses less water,opmises energy efficiency, converves natural resources, generates  less wate and provides healther spaces for accupants,as compared to a conventional building , so our preferences are to achive profornamce not material .yes  for some extent it is ok that one has to select high efficient material. energy efficieny is the main concern in a green building ..

A building in order to be considered green, in has not only to be built with green materials but to have a low impact in the enviroment, or if possible, to have a positive impact. The materials is only an element, but I consider more critical how it gets the energy used inside and how it handles the residue.

An alarming condition .... "consumerism" may destroy this globe. Think green, dream green and research green - populate Green - campaign green.

Think in a different way. Plan and construct in a different way. Think alternatives. Engineers and other experts are 2show us the way. Discussions are welcome.
