I think we have to accommodate new ideas, perceive needs and enhancements. Increased square footage has the greatest impact on initial building cost. Working together, owners, architects and contractors can help offset rising material prices by identifying wasted space and making the facility as functionally efficient as possible. Owners will purposely build unused space because they are planning for growth and assuming that space will later be occupied. As an alternative, instead of building for growth today, consider building a smaller, more flexible facility that can quickly and easily expand to fit the company’s needs when they change.
