Economical computer networking

I f we look for the penetration of IT utilisation in small industrial sector we find there are alot of scope for expansio

when i am talking of small sector I a assuming of an enterprenuer with having Rs 10  lakh as turn over as  a model.

I am having a feling that in these sector hardly 5 % of computerisation has ben done, and alot of scope is there to spread there.

The main reason for slow growth in these sector are a) Ignorance about computers.

b)Fear about computerisation which may reveal the secret . c)In adequate fund towards computerisation.

It is evident from the real life experiense that what soever may be the size of the organisation, there could be lot of improvisation , structurisation and development could be done.

Prospective vendors may not be interested to look deep into this sectors ,because of the fact they wont be sell their product in these sectors and return would be low.

Now question is how to address such type of  Market? Which has low return and extreamely  low capacity  allocation towards computerisation. But when we analyse the need  we find any enterpreneur who is having at least 3 employee in its roll and has turn over of Rs 10 lakh , has to have maintain  an account, material stock /despatch control transaction with the market, salary records etc functionalities to run the business.

Then we have to think how to full fill their need. Here we have to think the total requirement as a turn key package which must be so simple and easy that does not need any expensive training. does not demand hi cost oriented hardwareas well as software to get the job done.

We find in most of the Public sectors and Govmt . organisations are having a policy of discarding their computer hardwares declaring obsolete every after 5 or 6 years of time. These hardwares due to lack of well planned disposal policy either gets damagged unused way as scrap or being sold to grey market in much cheaper rate.

These hardwares through a well planned methodology could be channeled in these small sectors. Now open source Os Linux or Novell 4.1 old version could be used as networking software to support the network functionality. Dos /javabased bundled software can be developed to handle  material accounting , accounts ,finance application. email can be configured in linux based e-mail system. Internet connectivity can be provided thru Linux proxy without spending much about high cost servers.

To my idea if some volunteer linux /java progranmmars take lead and think for such activity as a social cause they can easily come out with some ideas. Old version novel  are available free of cost to set up asmall LAN. I have a feeling that with an expenditure of approximate cost of Rs 80 thousand a net work of 5 machnes  with other overhead cost can be build up.

Wit the passing of time these cost can still be minimised.

With this view we can have a wide penetration in the market which are still dark towards computerisation.

This can open up better utilisation of the system. Grwoing product market due to internet connectivity. Small scale industry people can direct market their product through internet. Which will have a strong liverage to open up a new vista.
