Today, people in their 20s change jobs every two years. Many human resource specialists cite employee satisfaction and retention as main concerns of today's employers. The way to make the work more meaningful is by being loyal. It means that we have to be loyal while we are in an organisation. And in this way, the idea of workplace loyalty is changing. So in my opinion, the employee loyalty isn't gone, but it's just different from the past. |

This is the basic need you should have to stay in an organization.
Yeah fine Nikhil, of course all of us do jump jobs more frequently than our predecessors to begin. However loyalty still remains and we have every right to loyal to our organisation. Loyalty is a human value and not a professional value or trait. I believe any employee spending that least amount of time in any firm would be definitely be loyal to his work & commitments in the first place and not anything else for sure.
I don't know why loyality word is always use for employee. Is organization loyal with there employee. JUST few month back(resession) it' headline of newspaper. today this comp thrown out 100 employee then that.So accoding to me loyality should not explain with our duration but time which we spend within the organization should show our intergity and trust.

I belief, we are in a competitive human capital market and that young human capital is looking for quick growth. There isn't the corporate loyalty there used to be 15-20 years ago. The way to hold employees today is to make their work and their day-to-day activities in the company exciting enough for them to stay. Not everyone will stay, but I think if we can empower more people and are willing to pass on the responsibility for that, and if people are satisfied and motivated, there's less chance of them wanting to leave and go to a competitor. If we cannot provide such an environment, if there is frustration, then the only way to hold a person is by the money you pay . So, for us, it has to be making the job exciting for people and for them to profit from a reward-and-recognition system that enables them to grow with the organisation. |

Loyality faded with number of opportunity and kind of work they do. More opportunity means less loyality to the company.
You can still find more loyal employees in manufacturing companies due to kind of work they do. You will find less loyal employees in marketing and service industries due to lots of opportunity and same nature of work/job. Service industry has more opportunity and so more ladders(posts) to climb.
To cntrol this, the key is in the hand of HR only. They need to be more strict in the terms of recruitements and no one should be entertained with less that 2-3 years of sticking with the company. This will bring the value to the eomplyer, employees and company.
There is a sad part of it as well as then employers may try to exploite the employees. One has to be careful on this.

Here we need to be very clear what does loyalty means when it comes to employee? May be i am loyal by working 8 hours dedicatedly in the office inspite of a person who seen in the office for 15 hours and works for only for 2 hours... |

Employee satisfaction can be understood by two basic aspects --- empowerment and sense of achievement. An employee can be completely satisfied if his these 2 needs are satisfied. As regarding challenging work which makes working itself interesting, the employee can never fully satisfy this need but as he feels more responsible & successful, he will have a better chance of exploring this dark or unknown area. |

There should be a distinction between "Loyalty" and " career ". In my view, loyalty means sincere and deligent during the tenure of the employement not necessarily to remain in the organization without adding any value to both for himself as well as to thet organization. Nowadays, organization fires people, gives them VRS, making the jobs redundant without considering the loyalty of employees. In changing environment, employerrs re-engineer the process to improve productivity whereas talented employees will always look for career progression and promotion. In my view, all employees should not be loyal to the employees as long as they are at work and they should not be dis-loyal even after leaving the job. This is true for both the employers and employees. |

This is give and take world. To find out whether employees are loyal or not, it is better to assess whether organisations are loyal to their enployees or not. If organisations are loyal then employees should also be loyal. |
