PLM must be able to forecast customer demand patterns and provides a competitive advantage
by allowing companies to profitably shape demand through pricing and
promotions, while simultaneously ensuring high customer service levels.
The highly accurate demand forecasts should be able to
optimise promotions, pricing and production plans. And its holistic
view of the influences and immediate effects of consumer demand allows
enterprises to understand and anticipate customer demand. As a result,
companies can employ market-driven planning to create a unified
strategy that optimally serves customers while maximising profits.

If consumer demand is known then only as relevant to the demand we can develop strategies for supply chain

Storage & Quality : How many times, you see goods lying without proper storage, bining. Adequate and proper binning with product display will improve the chances sales and will lead to long life. Responsibility : Now , Just In Time Inventories as being tried in Logistics : How many 3PL/4PL Logistics are using GPS systems to track their transports. The delivery deadlines are not followed and no proper location the consignment is available. Real-time system will improve the information exchange and better transport will help to preserves the quality of the product. |

The most important aspect to any supply chain is the inventory it carries. Whatever be the demand, supply position if the inventory is adequately managed, the supply chain is successful.. This means, being able to align all supply resources to demand at every node within the supply networks. If a supplychain is able to recognise this relationship & exactly know where and why my inventory lies / should lie, They are good to go. |

I think a good SCI must address incomplete spending analysis . Relationship management must address delivering supplier intelligence through a Web-enabled environment to
all levels within the purchasing organisation. It should provide robust and
versatile tools that facilitate substantial returns through the three
main procurement areas: strategy alignment/scorecarding, opportunity
exploration, and detailed analysis/decision support

A good PLM must deliver financial intelligence enabling fact-based decisions that
reduce costs and improve profitability, both internally and across the
consumer-packaged goods and retail value chain. It should be able to provide you a common
platform for internal departments and/or external trading partners to
objectively examine the mutual costs attributed to moving products
through distribution systems from post-production to the final
consumer.
