The organization readiness can be divided broadly into:

1) Management Readiness - The top management should be ready to adopt such a system, which would have organization-wide impact.

2) People Readiness - The users in the organization, should understand the benefits ERP can bring to their operations and be ready to adopt such system

2) Process Redainess - The business process in the organization need to looked into adopting an ERP solution

3) System Readiness - The IT infrastructure within the organization needs to ready to run efficiently the ERP Solution

The organization should conduct an audit to evalue their current status on the above areas and get an action plan to fill in the GAP areas before adopting ERP

I could say that process manufacturers first need to develop a comparison between their organizations and their peer group through benchmarking. This inside-out comparison will clarify the performance of the manufacturer's competitors. Once a manufacturer knows how many units per hour a competitor produces, and at what cost per unit or through put per unit, understanding which areas within the organization need improvement becomes self-evident...
