Customers experience your brand in numerous ways: products, packaging, price, marketing, sales personnel, etc. Each of these contacts or touchpoints molds the customer’s impression of the brand. Some of these touchpoints are obvious, like product performance, and 1-on-1 customer interactions. Other touchpoints like the product manual, monthly statements or post-sales support, may be subtler in their brand affects.

So, how to do it.....plz share your expert views.....

Identify Your Reasons-to-Believe

idea posted by Namrata Pathak Accounts Manager, American Express

Your brand promise is irrelevant if your customers do not believe it. Therefore, your promise must be supported by reasons-to-believe. This will automatically add substance to the promise and define specific expectations for the customer.

For example, an automobile manufacturer promises potential customers that Car XYZ is an “intelligent choice for serious drivers.” What makes it an intelligent choice? Why should the customer believe this promise?

Hello N. Pathak, Ever lasting brand.......... As already mentioned some of the points like Product, quality, price, Packaging, advertisement, Marketing and sales promotion. It is very important to keep the customer informed regarding latest development regarding the quality, availability, if any special offer and their feedback information in general. By doing this way you can create brand loyalty. K. Rajagopalan.

While supporting this side views posted, one question arises in my mind, That is a life cycle for everything and similarly a product passes through various life cycle in the ever changing business environment. Hence a product can be made to sustain the changes in the market, but ever lasting brand? it is a question mark.

Thanks for the referral Mr.Namrata.

The job of advertising agencies is exactly this. They are the one create the identification and your reason to belive.

Today if this is not being done one will be out of market. Remember Mercedes went out of India and back once again. They are the brand but the price was not correct at that point of time hence they failed. One should make a balence between the brand and the price to be sucessful.

Position your Brand in the customer's mind through perceptual mapping

idea posted by vineet MARKETING Manager, SRS GROUP

To make a brand ever lasting the most important thing is that the marketer position it in the right way. For that the first step is to know your target customers and competitors. Design your  your brand personality according to the self concept of target customers. More closer to the self concept of target customers means more attachement to the brand. Customer should see himself in the brand. and keep updating your brand with the time. good luck..

Hello Namrata, Ever lasting brand. To accept the brand by the customer, this has been done periodically and not by overnight. Apart from this point, all your five points are relevant.

K Rajagopalan.

relevance

A brand having relevance to whatever domain it espouses. This means the relevance has to be continuously monitored and kept flexible with the societal ethos.

building an ever lasting brand is not just a one day affair but rather a continuous process where you keep analyzing changing consumer behavior as well needs. if we look at brands around which we think are ever lasting ones, we will see they kept on adding value more regularly. at times, the market dynamics also required to change the entire value proposition in order to keep the brand alive with respect to changing consumer profiles. ever lasting brands do not follow a particular target segment and grow along with them but instead position themselves to a certain demographic and/or psychographic profile and strive to remain relevant to  the group.

hence, the name of the game is keep looking at your target segment profile which is the most profitable/promisable/accessible/relevant, their needs, aspirations and their psychographics alongwith external environment analysis in terms of technology, competition, product substitutes (currently available as well as may be available to consumers soon). this would provide the prompts  and signals to reconsider your current offering.

In today's world which is highly competitive, the concept of a everlasting brand is dead concept. When you release your boots from the marketing gas, your decline starts.

To make a brand, first go to the lower most segment people and explain them the benefits of your brand.  If those people can understand your product think that you have the brand.

Just to provide service which can satisfy their psychological need abt the product

idea posted by Tejaswi Dubey CEO, Aastha HR Solution/www.aasthahrsolutiuon.com
to create a image of ever lasting brand its very imp that we should try to satisfy the psychological need of customers we can judge through it an example like baby care products always try to focus for the psychological need & want of the customers rather than focusing on other aspects they create a bond of relation through their product between mother & child

How Shri Gandhi became a Brand to India. First he knew what people want. Second he wants to deliver the product to the people. Third he single mindedly pursued the goal. And success followed him, he was not after success.

Develop customer touchpoints

idea posted by Jayant Vishnu Art Director/Sr Art Director, Creative

Ya Namrata its very essential to identify your reasons to believe so that customers believe in your brand. Besides that one has to identify & create customer

All touchpoints are not created equal. Some will naturally play a larger role in determining your company’s overall customer experience. For example, if your product is ice cream, taste is typically more important than package design. Both are touchpoints, but each has a different affect on our customers’ experiences as a whole.

BRAND SHOULD BE LIKE BREATH IN BODY...

idea posted by Jayant Singh Freelancer, Management & Strategy Consulting

What i feel about creating an everlasting brand is that it should be so simmered in the minds of the people that it actually defines the category/product/whatever it family it belongs too..

To support the abovementioned idea i would like to give example of the latest brand BABA RAMDEV  u think of YOGA and there is only one brand which comes to your mind...

just like in rural India toothpaste means COLGATE and soap means LIFEBUOY

and then go on re-inventing the brand...

CREATE and INNOVATE--One Step Forward

idea posted by Parthasarathi Biswas Head/VP/GM-Operations, Vanco PLC (Now Reliance Globalcom)

I always believe in Creativity and Innovations...India has so much talent but lacks the knowledge or enthusiasm to push forward with Research and Developments. Indians go abroad and do that for other countries and Companies...Look at Intel, Microsoft, Google, Blackberry, Nokia, THE Internet, Cisco, KFC, PizzaHUT, Mc Donalds etc...... These guys create...They just don't cater to the market requirements but think one step forward by Innovating things which becomes a part of life for us.....and these Brands do not need Marketing...I guess this is the best way to create an everlasting BRAND...which certeinly becomes a legacy...those who just cater to requirments, need to Markets themselves......
