Consider I am on a hunt for the best advertising agency, they are so many out there that its tough to decide which one is the best. So how to make sure that I choose the best,which can make a big difference to my business.

If the ad agency cannot understand your business, then I prefer to look out some where else.
Be sure that the agency you select understands your company's objectives and considers them reasonable. This understanding will be reflected in the marketing and advertising strategy that the agency creates for you.

I agree that the agencies coming forward should have insight on the business for which they are pitching. In addition an agency need to be equipped with comparitive study of the competition, which enables to come-up with different  / innovative solutions

I feel if we can have a look at their portfolio, we can have an idea if their creative work is up to scratch.

We can also make out if they have worked with any other companies that operate in a similar sector to our own.

Turn Around Time

The most common problem one faces with a creative agency is the turn around time.The time gap between the brief and the final creative needs to be minimised.It is comman for agencies to hide their incompatencies behind the garb of creativity.One needs to understand,creativity has no limits,but ceratinly it cant be at the cost of missing timelines.

Have a look at previous ads they have created, it might be a themes for the product, brochures, postcards etc. If you are satisfied with it then its ok or else look out else where.

Testimonials

Mr.Shastry even if you've looked at their portfolio, you should still get testimonials from clients the ad agency has worked with in the past. Why?
If you think their work is up to scratch, that doesn't mean they delivered what their clients were looking for.

Relative Size

As per my experience, the advertising agency's size of client accounts should have a good match with the size of your account with them. If they are used to having advtg accounts which are much larger than yours then your work may be accorded last priority. If your advtg account with them is too large compared to other accounts then they may not have the capacity to do your work properly.
