"Fake resumes : any way out?"

If anything seems out of place the best thing to do is a reference check.. Though it would not work if the people who have given reference too lie..

Diya I agree with you. According to me who ever gives reference will probably not lie. In times to come it will become apparent with on the job performance. In csae one fails to deliver then should be terminated from the service.

reference checking alone will not accomplish anything as references can be coached to respond in a manner so as to verify the data on the resume. the only way to verify a resume is to take the trouble and verify past employments and educations. The candidate should be told that such checking is part of the due process and get their consent as part of the application form.

|
The ideal way to evaluate a candidate will be to put him/her on a live project. What if a person with a fake resume does a fantastic job compared to the one with a real resume? Will the company drop such a candidate? The other way should also be debated - what if a candidate with a real resume is unable to perform on a project?. I am not justifying 'fake resumes' but a resume should not be considered as the ultimate passport for identifying a right candidate. |

One more point - We are living in a country where everything is fake. Right from the time we wake up from bed till the time we go back to bed, we are constantly doing fake things, and I don't understand why this 'holiness' just for a resume - we are the best hipocrites.

I agree with your views and in most of the cases, the fake candidates emerged as super stars and performed far better than the real ones. In private sector, all that rules is performance, which is directly linked to numbers. When the business is not impacted in any form, it is still OK to have the performers with fake background. May be we are slightly deviating from the original question but your point looks very valid to me

Background check is essential in such cases. Sometimes, the candidates give a couple of references who would be able to present you with the credentials of a prospect as per his advice! As adopted by the Government, Police verification is required for getting enrolled. In that case also, money speaks volume!

this is must for any post, its worth investing than repending later, as people change jobs too often and they relocate too frequent, real information gets masked sometimes but you need to find out what is not said at the time of applying for a post

We can't control people to write or not to write unwanted stuff on the Resume, But yes if the Interviewer is skilled enough, then he hardly takes 05 minutes to know whether the resume information is true or bogus!!

I feel the same.

Original certificates, testimonials, payslip, documentation of project in details, recommendation certificate should be mandatory during interview. A further cross checking is also needed by mailing/ calling the organization/ institute last attended by the interviewee.

Don't you really think that this stuff can be easily created with the evolving technology changes these days? What if the candidate says he has worked through a consultant in the top notch company that he mentioned?

Business itself runs on over exaggeration of the positive factors and total negligence of the demerits and even there are few companies which are running unethical business so in a corporate world it's not at all a serious issue altogether.

what is the rationale here?

In private sector people employed is like a machine part .If you fix a non sized part in machine either it has to adjust itself through any course or it will be broken and thrown out if rigid enough to adjust.

Hi, Most of the time they'll try to fake the salary they've drawn and the skills they possess, and it might even go to the level of taking some big brand names, claiming they've worked for such companies, best and trusted way to check this is to ask for office contact no. website / email address and directly check with the previous employers about the time period this candidate had worked, conduct certificate, reason for relieving, last drawn salary slip etc, we don't have to ask everything, whatever we feel needs some check can be verified.
