Shantaram By Gregory David Roberts

I came to know lot about India which I never knew. This being a autobiography has all the facts and figures and it is really very surprising. Written wonderfully not just for entertainment but for the sake of reality.

Its well written about Mumbai and its nuaces and best part is that the author is not judgemntal about India, his way of putting things in a lucid manner makes it a delightful read.

I would recommend the following :

1. The Goal - Eliyahu Goldratt : this is for those whose careers are mostly in factories , on the shop floor

2. The Seven Day Weekend - Ricardo Semler : this is for managers and senior management personnel , who can influence corporate culture decisions.

“It’s the fire within” Ignited minds is all about.

Dr. Kalam is not a writer, the book spins around DRDO, the challenges faced from various quarters and how people stood with him from priest of a church to then non – Congress chief Minister of Orissa. This is no literary marvel, real life James Bond. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam used his fire within, a human capability to do what he did for our country, its from Inspiration to way of life.

Sir, No doubt it is good book to ignite the young generations. But i found the book has more subjective of his research work. A bit boring sometimes( i am sorry to write this)because he is a good scientist but not a writer.

I really can't explain how much this book has made me to change myself and my way of thinking. The author of this book "Ayn rand" has done a mind boggling job in portraying the character of Howard roark & begins explaining about the individualism Vs the collectivism of a male in a society. This book is just my all time favorite. Just go for it & get enthralled with the unfamiliar splendid explanation of a familiar author!

The work is simply great, for the first time most comprehensive account of economic history of Eastern & western Deccan from 1st centurt to 6th Century AD. Authored by DR. Shobha Mukherji. On a lighter side of reading, another superb read by Michael Chabon's The Final Solution.

two books by william darymple - 'nine lives' & 'city of djins' - gr8 stuff about india - the former describes nine of our subcultures - the latter is a very well researched 'story' of delhi. recommend these two books for gr8 reading experience. my respects ps - thx arpita for this noble thought discovered quite by chance today. there are so many good books in different areas - one finds it difficult to single out one 'favourite'. my regards

I have read "Autobiography of a Yogi", "The Alchemist", "The great secret", "The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari" and "Pepsi to Apple by John Sculley". Out of all these I liked "The Alchemist" after all the way the author has explained the things or the flow I can say is really very good. I suggest one more book its not an novel or some autobiography. The name of the book is "Positive Imaging" by Norman Vincent Peale (There is one more book called Positive thinking, but I suggest you to go for Positive Imaging). I don't want to say anything about the book. I just want you guys to read it. Its worth buying.
