Hi friends I think we will be using fuel cell for cars. Fuel cell generates electricity by converting hydrogen and oxygen into water. A battery generates electricity by converting the chemicals stored inside into electricity, so in fuel cell cars it eliminates the need for batteries. Unlike batteries, fuel cells do not run down or require recharging. As long as the chemicals are present, the fuel cell runs.

Whie I agree with you on the fuel cell concept, I also feel that it has a while to go before it reaches every one of us. I prefer the Toyota Primus concept where a running car generates electricity which it stores and uses it back on the long haul.

We need both time and money to do proper research to come up with a environmentally friendly and sustainable form of energy (that also has minimum carbon print) before we go commercial with that idea. Plugging a car in to the house hold mains simply increases the demand on the already over taxed electricity grid.

Till we have a proper tested and true alterate source, we must concentrazte on reducing the sage. That is best done by on the spot self generation of elect6ricity which is reused. It may even mean we travel a few kmph slower but what the heck....with the traffic jams....no body is going anywhere fast anyway!!!!!!!

SOME OF MY IDEAS ARE: *USE OF IRON,BORON BY GRINDING THEM TO NANOSIZE AND USING THEM AS FUEL WILL PRODUCE MORE POWER AND THE BURNED FUEL CAN BE REPLINISHED BY PASSING THE EXAUST THROUGH SEMIPERMEABLE MEMBRANE. *IT IS GOOD TO USE HYDROGEN AS FUEL.

NO Single source will suffice

The need for alternatives can not be limited to only one type of technology or resource. Several options would be required and all initiative must find welcome. In India Solar energy has a definite future. Decayed  matter bio-fuels have not been brought any use. Jatropha should not be encouraged, as it occupies cultivable land.

Water and electricity

BMW has already developed technologies for run the car with electricity and water in separate researches. both technologies are in the lab for commercial usage.

Let us hope for the cheapest, Eco friendly fuel in this century.
