The Name of West Bengal should be Changed to either BENGAL Or BANGA PRADESH
Alphabetically West Bengal comes at the Last, but as soon as WEST is removed, it becomes BENGAL, which will come after Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh..... almost at the Top.
If we want a Choise - It can also be BANGA PRADESH
The only advantage in the name is the pecking order in parliament where states are attended to alphabetically during some types of discussions. As a wit had said, the new name, moves the state up 5 places only. May be if they had taken up a name like Aamarbangla they could possibly be No. 1. Simple Amarbangle will only put it above Andhra Pradesh. And why this British hangover of "West ?". East Punjab got over the hangover lon ago - it is only Punjab. Similarly the new name should not have the Poischim at all
Banga Pradesh or Bangarashtra both are good ...

I think the word 'West Bengal' is still beautiful. What is there in a name? It is the self sufficiency of the state that matters, its wealth, its people, its infrastructure, its natural resources etc etc. The new government should try to get employment for more and more bengalis, make it self sufficient so that it need not beg, build more roads, schools, pull more people out of poverty and overall, bengalis should work hard to make its state great..... and then it will get a new name...as 'a great state of India'.
Bombay changed to Mumbai, Madras got changed to Chennai.....who was benefited....the painters and paint companies of India.

All Indians can call the state as "West Vangal" and the natives of that sates as "Vangalis".
Automatically the Natives of the state will call themselves as "Bongali" and their state as "Poshchim Bongal". No hard feelings to Bongalis, this is just for Fun |

Just drop the name West, as it confusing given its location visa-via Indian map.Otherwise their is no need to do anything about it.

I want to give some reference of West Bengal.Bengal was state and Britishers called BENGAL instead of BANGAL.So why should follow them but give it our Indian name and BANGAL for our national proud.Make or revise in Indian culture is our holy duty and it is our natural right.It will raise our nationality and national religion.All names of India/Bharat should indicate our own originality.
