Some wise guy once described cricket as a game played by 22 players ,a million fools watching in the stadium and on TV sets another million fools listening to the commentry and tens of millions  fools asking the score. Is IPL not a waste of time and energy for nations where people still do not get two square meals daily and lighting up of so many TV sets resulting in tremendous loss of energy which can light up thousands of villages? What is needed is young children given the chance to play the sport and to build a strong nation than to have them glued on TV sets weakening their eyes .

Great Game, Let's Enjoy

idea posted by B.Mehernath Marketing & Technical Head, Bondit Construction Chemicals Pvt. Ltd.

I am sorry gentlemen, IPL T20 is a fast, exciting game gives thril and most importantly it starts only in the evening so there is no waste of time it's a matter of just 40 overs and some times some great players don't even need to play for the fulll quota of 20 overs either scoring required runs or getting out.

Unlike test cricket it doesn't require 5 days or half day for one dayer. This form of cricket is invented for us to enjoy the game in short time without wasting much time. So why think of wastage of time?  it's not a loss of money, some one is making money by making 44 players play a game in 6-7 hours and what we get is thrill, enjoyment. So why complain?l

My view points are that all this is being done for the benefit of very few and media makes a lot of money by fooling most of the people most of the times without thinking of the basic good of general masses.

No Sanjeev I don't think so.If you are saying that watching IPL or cricket matches is a sheer waste of time then I would tell you to look at the benefits that a tournament like this has for the economy of the country.Like every other profession cricket has also become one and this is giving employment to so many people..not just the players but organisers, media guys, technical committees and many more who are associated with this beautiful game. Moreover if watching cricket is a waste of time then all other sports should also be the same.In my view watching sports is enjoyment & entertainment which is needed in our lives,so one cannot say it as a waste of time.

Innovation

idea posted by Makrand Bhave Marketing & MICE, WIZCRAFT International

T20 has come as an after thought and probably an innovation after the 50 overs limited game. When the one day internationals were being played in the regualtion white uniforms and the red cherry, the D/N version with colored uniforms and white ball made way by way of innovation! It added the extra flavor and spice because the playing conditions were different, the ball behaved differently in the night and the batsmen heaved with all their might.

Soon the time came for a much faster version of the game and the T20 was born. Its faster, its explosive and its got cheer leaders!! So there is more spice, more flavor and more biff bang in the game. The major difference is that a fast pace bowler learnt to bowl the slow ball effectively and the batsmen invented newer shots to score runs. All in all a frenzied game of entertainment began.

Its definitely not a waste of anybody's time and money!

oh really you mean to say if people are going to wrong direction then we all should go towards them . do you think indian people has that much of intelligence to judge whether to go or not. First of all remember that the indian politics is suffering because of the people of india not the politicians we all giving them freedom to rule over us .

Yes Markand is right here....if so many people are watching the sport there should be a reason right...without reason the whole country will not watch that game....Cricket is not just sport its like Religion which binds all the religions in the country to one...and is enjoyed by one and all..so there is no point in waste of time and energy...Its pure passion and entertainment which is enjoyed by the whole country........

I feel IPL is a National waste of time and energy . To day we see Sharuk Khan returned to India saying his team didnot win any match. That shows how selfish he is now he wil start creating ideas to win.

I am agree with you George all these games and celebrity show offs just to earn money from the indian people and we all know how easy it is to make money from indians like our politicians are doing for past 50 years. Do we all think that winning of any team in cricket gives us any bread or butter. its only waste of money and we are giving support to those players to do match fixing .government is investing crores of ruppess on them . do you all think that palying cricket is that much risky and challengefull in which one should get crore by playing this. They should not get more than 50 k for man of the match rest deserve 10 k max for playing a match. If the country has plenty of money then spend on poor people and our army officers those who are saving our lives on border.

well i guess india is not yet that much mature to organize IPL and cricket on this kind level .. very frankly i can say that first this country has to improve its infra structure and most important poverty and literacy rate after winning on these battles this country can organize cricket games on large scale and of course other activities also.
