How and What should be done to protect our environment?

Reducing water and energy use, waste management, alternative transportation, renewable materials and renewable energy will help in protecting the environment, but if we want really to get quick results we should start working on stopping wars every where on the earth, the impacts of wars on environment are much bigger than any other cause, hundreds of billions of dollars are spent annually on oil wars and the results killing thousands of innocent people, destruction of infrastructure, contamination of river and water ground, destroying the land surface, contamination of fertile soil and air pollutions with toxic smoke and fumes killing animals, plants and birds.

If small amounts of wars budgets were put in developing new resources of renewable energy, some countries might discover there was no need for oil wars, they already have more feasible alternatives.

There should be some rule that whether there is any construction of building,office or any factory , plantation of trees and herbs should be a must criteria.It will have added advantage of greenery,polutionfree,also beauty.Whatever area is there with the owner he should follow the rule of plantation .I hope alongwith all other ideas posted here this will be also helpful in making environment pollutionfree.

government is the protector of land, water, energy and all other natural resources. If the citizens are unwilling to take up the responsibilities, government should step in and start forcing what is good for not only current generation but for the future generation also. Government is in the position of enacting regulations and policies that help improving the environment. Citizens can do their part but the overall effect is not that impactful. What is required to address the environmental pollution problem is initiatives from industry. Regulations, policies and harsh/strict enforcement by the governmetn is the way to go when it comes to protecting our environment.
