If you have resigned or have been laid off recently it becomes really difficult to cope up with teh work for last few days . What is the best way to serve this periods? What should one keep in mind while serving the notice period?

Leave in a dignified manner

idea posted by Gargi Sinha Senior Consultant, Hewitt Associates

The worst thing to do would be to get impatient and act foolishly or impulsively. The employee must not lose his calm or try to take out personal grudges against anybody. In many cases, a present job can serve as a mirror for future employment, in the form of referrals. The employee should look for new opportunities and not spoil future prospects by taking it too personally and not working to his fullest, during the notice period.

Well i truly believe that if you are leaving an organization, you should do it in a dignified manner setting an example for others to follow because modesty in an employee is something that we do not find very often. even the company should realize that they are losing an asset and not a liability.

Leave in a manner that the management should feel that why is he leaving. In fact notice period is the best time to prove our worth to the company; specially when you handover the responsibilities; Make sure you explain 100% of what you know. And other thing The better the way you leave will be better when your new employer has a verification on your previous company ;)

Leaving the organisation in a dignified manner is the approach every individual should follow. After all, the organisation has kept you and nurtured you and accepted you as you were irrespective of your pluses and minuses, and compensated you for whatever they have promised. Therefore, clear all the assignments assigned to you before leaving and do not leave it for your successor to take care of that! Do collect personal mail ids and telephone numbers of peers in order to keep in touch with them even after you leave the organisation!

I think Sanjay make sense, but we here discussing " How best to serve notice period when resigning from office". Networks and friends remain there with you either you are in job or not... But still it would help for one to get more opportunities...

How to serve notice time/ un usual quit

idea posted by Sarada M Senior HR Generalist

If resigned on own, one has to be sincere, do the work transistion,be punctual to office till the last day, complete the tasks before notice period time and leave with pride celebrating good moments with colleagues. At the end of the day, being honest to self counts a lot than being honest to someone or the company. If laid off or moving due to unpleasant circumstances, be cool and composed, do networking and try to explore more career options through friends. Do not gossip or act impulsively and spread bad about colleagues or the company with in internal circle. Spend more time on tracking further options. If terminated, just leave the premises quietly with hope and confidence. Be sportive and balanced. Our life more depends on how we take up hard times and challenges than good times. Think it as an experience. Do not allow negative energies to squeeze. Be on the hope and every person will have their day!!!!

Dont raise the ante or get into arguments. If you have any paid leave left, avail it instead of encashing it. Overall dont get into any arguments and do your work if any !

If we are leaving the organization and given notice period, so during that time complete you all possible work with happily, as much as possible complete your work, hand over your work charge to related or authorised person. If you have find other job then ok but if you have not job , so find out simultaneously. The conclusion is that whenever you leave organization, give up your good brand image in that organization, share good moment with your collegue or friends etc. If company is terminate you then, leave it patiently. No need to do any work.

Notice period is a period of transition from good to better. Keep continue working as normal however, you will get less work than usual. Dont talk much with people as it may go badly against you.
