One way companies can go for sustainability is by promoting the culture of less usage of paper & plastics. Companies should see that this rule is implemented & strictly followed by all employees. Unnecessary wastage of paper & use of plastics should be avoided as far possible.. |

I support your idea, Sheetal.
This will help our environment, also.
reduce reuse and recycle.grow more and more trees and think and decide what we need, development at cost of environment or environment at cost of development or the third and safer way development with no damage to environment.
Sustainability should be considered as a corporate goal and some objectives could be derived based on the goal. This will help to ensure that the organization is moving toward sustainability over a period of time..
Focus on sustainable initiatives like green data center, green building (LEEDS and other certifications), planting of trees and saplings in the corporate environment, energy saving schemes, usage of bio-degradable materials and environmental friendly activities.
In short, use innovative ideas to focus on usage of materials and techniques that promote sustainability in the corporate environment....
This will ensure that organizations are focused on sustainability.
|
|
1. Develop the art/science of doing your activities on resources without compromising the future. OR 2. Continuously perform repairs.....like planting a hundred saplings for every tree cut. I simply dont see third option. Non-bio-degradable plastics should be banned with consequences of their use treated as a capital offense. |

It is not as if alternatives are short or the possibilities limited. From conservation of all materials and recycling of water to eco-friendly structures and resources. From finding solutions to clean air, water,to significant conservation of nature, the needs are unlimited.
The real blocker is human comfort zones that inhibits the ability to attach necessary importance to this subject. This can only be overcome through a strong "Will to care, for the future generations". Thanks Sheetal

@Shyam Kumar Singh,
Appears you feel revenues can revive nature!!
THINK AGAIN
|
|
Sustainabilty can be attained by showing dedicated and committed Responsibility towards Economic, Health, Labour and Environment Issues. Sustainabilty is much broader in nature |

Myopic Vision and scant respect for Ethical conduct with single measure of happiness and success as wealth accumulated and mindless consumption is at the root plunder of the nature and making life unsustainable. We need to bring change in the value system measuring the success by narrow standards of wealth and also a change in the belief of Ends justifying the means. |

big organisations has to understand their responsibility Mr. Rathin said companies should understand as well as Mr. Rajiv said bring back ethics . companies should understand their corporate social responsibility and work for it . recycling should be a law in case of paper, plastic, rubber etc so on to some extent we can save our mother earth . Many developed countries are following this but in India its not even on the scale of 1%.China has started doing as both nations are world's highly populated area now how it can achieved so every company should have a department for their CSR apart HR department who monitor all the activities. most big organisations have this department who has global presence and they are trying their level best even they know it is necessary to gain sustainability. I believe big organisations like Tata, Birla, Reliance etc should come in this field because if they will start recycling business certainly it will be on huge scale and will also benefit other organisations to maintain sustainability factor. few things like our newspaper, our grocery bags , carry bags from kirana this things should completely be recycled as well as mineral bottle even Bisleri has started this things by collaborating themselves with Rag Pickers. I think it will be one of the most effective strategy if implemented
thanks for your referral Ms. Sheetal |

Companies should use ecofriendly architectural design so that less electricity is needed for cooling in summer and heating in winter.

This two has all the potential to sustainability and uplifting to profitability.
At some extend you can reduce use of paper and plastic , when there is misuse or leakages or wastage, otherwise you can't, it will hamper growth.
Best shot is decrease cost by all possible means and increase sales/revenue

by engaging in a motive, which is higher than profit, called satisfaction. keeping apart from this idea, the kind of sustainable solution which our environment provides us has a lot of potential for generating profits.. if that is what business wants... we just need to think beyond what is obvious.

Marketing is big time necessary to spread the word in the first place, if people dont know about the product at all in the first place how are you even expecting your consumers to buy by just placing the product in the shelf....that wont happen, if... |
" Retail chain Shoppers Stop today said it may increase prices of its products by 6-7 per cent from April this year in order to offset the 10 per cent excise duty imposed on branded apparel in the Budget 2011-12 .".. This is a news I just read... |
Brands still tend to box her into a simplistic classification of the bahu, beti, biwi, ma, seductress....will this type of marketing to women work out in the first place. What do you think people are brands still into simplistic classification... |
