Due to the economic down turn that we are facing hotels are getting affected alot.Hotels and other hospitality businesses are faced with decreasing occupancy and revenue.Although there is down fall in the economic situation one cannot stop marketing.Studies have shown that one should actually increase your marketing budget in an economic downturn

How can one use internet to tackle this situation?

Tie up with websites such as makemytrip.com , yatra.com, travelguru.com, and giving discounts for customers if bookings made much earlier 30-45 days before similar to airtickets.

If the hotel is tis up with othe website then it has more exploser of its advertisement. More customet come to know about the hotel by logon to the website which we are tied up.

You are right Mr. Nijagunaradhya, by tying up with travelling websites and by giving discounts, the hotel industry can do a good promotion for itself. This tyrend has been adopted by many hotel industry these days

Through Internet facilities hotels can book online home delivery orders from customers, so that it can be serve within given time periods.

Internet helps hotel to know the valuable feedbacks from their customers regarding their services, which help the hotels to improve serivces & provide better quality foods.

I hink the above said ideas are already in use by the hotels. With the providers like etour, BOTW, allmost all the hotels are search-able! now what they can do is to offer a virtual tour to their hotel room. This help the tourist to decide whether to book or not. If there are options to connect to hotel for the booking and do a negotiation n the price, connecting to the customer service / sales through chat, virtual road shows, all these help the hotel to connect with the potetial customer and get the most out from them, by enhancing their experience!
