India will miss its target of reaching population stabilization by 2045 with the Union health ministry now looking at 2060 as a plausible target.

India had set itself the goal of attaining replacement levels of fertility -- 2.1 by 2010 -- to achieve the larger goal of population stabilisation by 2045 a gap of 35 years. However, by the end of 2010, only 14 states achieved the target. In fact, six states have fertility as high as 3-4.

So, how can India have a population stability?

GOI should have a system of limiting freebies for family having more children, once we have limitations on birth control, propagate and ensure strict implementation. It should be Humane but effective approach( should be different to Emergency days)

yes , it is necessary to make some rule regarding the limiting the child birth and with this it is also necessary to make awareness about increasing population and there effect because in our country in rural areas the birth of child is said to be gift of god and many other traditional beleives regarding the birth of child .

It is the best solution to control population growth. I support this idea.

2

offering incentives for limiting children to no more than 2 regardless of gender is about the only way. These incentives must take the form of additional burden for more than 2 children and not as tax advantages for 2 or less. People with 2 or less should be treated as normal. those with more than 2 should bear the burden of the system a littlew more.

WHY MORE POPULSTION

idea posted by NATTERAJA R. ARIKRISHNAN GM-Projects, Bentec Electricals & Electronics Pvt. Ltd

The population growth rate is increasing, no doubt. Obviously it is inevitable or unavoidable up to some extent. The children are the result of the love between couples which is the rich cultural part of our societies. In the present circumstances having more children is also a great problem to maintain the children by all means.

When we compare the population ratio between the rural and the urban areas, the number of children per families will be maximum three in urban and more than three in rural areas. This is because of the life style adopted by both.

In case of city life, normally all are educated, office goers, and business people with higher cost of living. Further educating their children in cities is costly affairs. Hence they have planning to control birth rates. They can spend their time in office, in attending other entertainment programs, and there are several ways to divert their attention. Sometimes the husband & wife feel tired after returning from their duties/office. They find hardly time to indulge in their intimacy. In cities there are more opportunities to divert their attention, of course they may use contraceptives to control the birth.

But in case of rural areas, there are no proper facilities to divert their attention and they can not spend their time in other activities. The only entertainment they have is spending their time with their wife or helping their wife in day to day activities. Most of the time they are together and naturally they will have more children. They also lack education and up to some extent no maturity and awareness. They do not know how to use the contraceptives or they do not like to use them due to the reasons best known to everybody. Hence they do not have good facilities to spend their time in other activities

Thanks for the referral Ms.Bindu

Natteraja I agree with you but if we grow population like vegetables one day the entire world minus china will have to produce food grain for us so there must be a stop to this growth by one way or the other.

By improving contraceptive use and not by any legislation

idea posted by Bindu Narayan Product Development Manager, Care Biomedicals

Instead of sending the contraceptives to states and "let them rot in their godowns", NGO's and other Governement organizations will be given contraceptives free of charge by the Centre who will go from door to door in designated villages and sell them at a very low cost.  Villagers who now travel miles to get contraceptives will have it at the lowest price right at their doorstep.

Unless the rapid growth of population is contained, it will be difficult to ensure quality education, healthcare, food, housing, clean drinking water, sanitation, hygiene and a healthy environment for all.

All Indians irrespective of caste and creed should be focused on population control and it may happen by the way mentioned by you.

1

The Growth and concentration in India is very specific to the Gangetic belt states of UP and Bihar. If the Govt can ficus and suceed in trying to educate this particular belt, the use of contraceptives in will have an effect of large proportion

1

contraceptives could be goo idea, but the people who know about it is very less in india, maximum 20%. and in this 20%, there wont be more than 10%, who thinks positively about using contraceptives, to reduce births, unless they are unmarried.

Empowering Women: Challenges

idea posted by Joydeep Dasgupta Business Development, New Horizon

Easy said, Muslims won’t allow there girls to schools north Indians any cast any religion won’t allow women empowerment program. The terrible part of the story is women aren’t aware of their capability, how would they ever learn to manage them, in rural India girls a married (dumped) at earlier age 14 15 moment puberty sets in. And all want boy child, creating a great physical psychological pressure which they succumb to as they get no alternative support. Their moms are equally ill-equipped financially morally first place they are not aware, get married have children.

Using contraceptives need advance knowledge insight of reproductive system and once personal parameters; for both the men and women the bare fact men don’t understand anything about women reproductive system, they see women as sex object, which trigger sexual desire. The hormones that trigger periods in women (a chemical conversation triggered by hormone Oestrogen) can never be deciphered by any Man. In this matter it’s only a women can guide another women.

Adding to that, There is lot of educational and awareness steps required to be taken in Tier II and III cities and of course rural. Biggest concern is religious belief which can only be turned out proper with help from proper primary education to all.

idea posted by Kiran Sethumadhavan Partner, Sunrise Associates
use and availability of contraceptives is surely a way to curb population growth but in the long run, it should be supported by education and counselling to both men and women on family planning, usage of contraceptives to both man and women as well as give more importance to women's primary health which should be available at grassroot level and also create awareness on making family planning concepts a regualr feature in social media. The government could also consider in rewarding families and people behind this so that it could make a impact.. only if measures on such war footing is done and without pilferage , could india look at containing the growth of population on its soil.

Ensures additional economic inflows to the country. Enhanced soft power due to influence abroad. Higher tourism to india. Many countries have a population deficit issue. Agreements can be struck with nations. People can emigrate individually or nation can lease out land for such developments - prime target - Russia. Murali

Our population has crossed the number from where if initiated we could make an impact to control it. In India, many people are being murdered, killed and even killed before birth. Poor cant struggle to have foods but have a series of children with them. Orphan house is blooming not because of genuine reason n many more areas to think over. But at last, my conclusion to the question is NO ANSWER.

idea posted by Damandeep Singh Article Assistant, Vinod Kumar & Associates (Chartered Accountants)
By educating people about the growing population and its negative impact on the country as a whole. We all know in bihar like state family members include 4-6 children but i will not say its there fault, its the fault that they are not educated they dont know with increase in population the demand for goods will increase and shortage of resources will lead a negative impact on country as a whole. Earlier there was a slogan "HUM DO HAMARE DO" but now Slogan should be "HUM DO HAMARA EK". Advertisements will also play a crucial role in this.

As per studies the growth in southern states are as equal as Europe and the awareness has to be increased in north states. People mindset changed, they started saying, let them have one kid or two and give them better education andlife. Which is good. There should be few awareness programs has to be run in rural areas would help. I damn sure that you can't control through legislation or law. sometimes it would give negative results..
