Presentations are very important to keep your views in a more systematic & structured way. Presentations in fact provide a framework, a structure for discussions to progress. But then that would involve time and effort in making the presentations crisp and sharp.

So, how to go for an effective presentation??

Make it to the point

idea posted by Renne Sharma HR Analyst, ABC Consulting

Don't make the presentation too long. A short & crispy presentation will serve the purpose. Long presentations will spoil the fun & leave no time for discussion.

Its very important that the presentation is:
1. To the point
2. Precise
3. Clear

Also, the presentation needs to be lively or interactive rather than just a read through!

Study Audience Properly

idea posted by Gargi Sinha Senior Consultant, Hewitt Associates

Before you even design your visuals, it is important to understand the profile of your audience:

    - Who is the audience?

    - What does the audience want to know?

    - Where are you delivering the presentation?

    - When is the presentation?

    - Why are you giving the presentation?

    - How will you present?

having taken into consideration all those valid points highlighted by gargi, i'd ask myself the following question. "what is the impact that i want to make on this audience ?" trust me it helps. regards.

make the presentation work for you!

idea posted by RAMESH KANDADAI Principal Consultant, ARM Consultants

Dont put unnecessary gimmicks like colour effects, slide transition effects and move on click effects. They should be used only if they help in demonstrating a point.

Use effects unnecessarily says loud and clear that you dont have enough meat in your presentation.

It is the message you want to convey and not your ability in gimmicking with power point!!

Draw up a logical outline on word using outline view and port it in to powerpoint and fill up the ppt from there on.

Make it interactive

idea posted by Joydeep Dasgupta Business Development, New Horizon

If audience sit back and listen, within minutes they  will get detached from the presentation, so make it interactive, In the technical world it works very well, audience wants to know cross examine they want to gobble down every bit and piece of information delivered, this ideally would be the outcome of a high impact technical presentation as business has become very techno-aided.

Make an agenda

idea posted by Akhilesh Kumar HR Officer, Hayat Communications

For effective presentation you make an agenda first, like :

  • who will attend,
  • where to attain,
  • what would be topic
  • Objectives
  • Purpose etc.

if one has proper agenda then he/she can save time and audience who are attending the presentation they will know the topic. Request the audience to explore the topic and come with their point to discuss so that one could be ready with question for discussion based on the presentation. If those question are already answered in presentation then it may save time

Effective Presentation.

idea posted by Denis Thomas Varghese Instructor, Air Force

Presentation should be a gradual and logical translation to the objective of the subject. It should be able to captivate the EQ of the audience and tiltilate the IQ of the intellectuals. The must point is not to add to much to it so that it becomes boring. Visuals of facts raises eyebrows and makes it captivating.
