How can organizations integrate their business with society?

Every organization should see that it provides enough employment opportunities to the people around it. Companies should see that people are satisfied & the company is liability towards the society.

Besides that companies should see that there is always a scope for sustainable development.

CORPORATES CAN ADOPT VILLAGES/TOWNS,SPEND MONEY ON IMPROVING BASIC INFRASTRUCTURE,SCHOOLS,COLLEGES,HOSPITALS,PARKS,PLAY GROUNDS,COMMUNITY HALLS,MARRIAGE HALLS, ETC FOR THE BENEFIT OF PEOPLE LIVING AROUND.CAN OFFER SCHOLARSHIPS FOR DESERVING SCHOOL/COLLEGE GOING STUDENTS FOR CONTINUATION OF THEIR STUDIES.

Before I proceed on the above Idea, Let me ponder over the question itself. There is no doubt that an organization is as such an integral part of todays society. This is owing to various reasons: Resources are taken from the society - People, Raw Materials etc., Products and Services are offered and earning is done from the society.

However, by not acknowledging the fact, most organizations find themselves to be an alien to the society and thus there is a need for ideating and discussing this topic.

A few key responsibilities for an organization are:

a. Doing a socially responsible business - One which does not affect the society negatively.

b. By being a responsible member of the society - following the rules and regulations - written or otherwise. The fact that most organisations are covered under the 'Laws' they prefer to go by the Letter of the Law than the Spirit and more importantly the objectives of the Society

Without any dependancy on government machineries, business organisations should take up Educare, Medicare and Sociocare for the community in their business districts and improvise surroundings by upgrading the existing infrastructure.

Be it a product or services organization, if service to the society is not the predominant drive factor, there is no way the business can connect with the society. The mission need not be of platonic hue. It is possible to have a win-win situation on enduring basis, as long as the benefit of all stakeholders is well balanced. The users, employees and the ownership could all be deriving value from such a business enterprise. The usurpers come and go, but the socially responsible business will continue to prosper for a long time.

Fulfillment of social responsibility on the part of any organization is the most crucial factor to integrate their business with society, as that inculcates mutual trust and brings the respect and honor for the organization amongst the common masses in the society.

Profit oriented Cos must know :

-- that they are a part of the Society

-- that they are non-existent if the society is suffering ( these has recently been felt in times of global recession )

Basically first : For Mfg Industry : pollution free technology, consumption of lesser energy and water. For service industry : limited e-waste, pollution free gadgets. For Finance related : if wealth may not be increased, no erosion of present wealth

Apart from usual (local) employments, they must work for the development of nearby locality first and the larger society second

If the company has dedication, rest may come spontaneously.

Along with the employment offered to the society, we can involve them by giving contract for supply materials, transportation of goods and staff etc to make them feel they are part of organisations and they have important roll in the organisation.  Also organisations can do charitable deeds to society with mutual benefits.
