In a bid to involve employees in decision making, Infosys Technologies has decided to put its policies on probation before they are implemented. The move is mostly applicable to human resource policies.

It has been believed that the decision is a reaction to the HR policy called iRace introduced last year, on which Infosys suffered a huge employee backlash. Not only this...but in various other organizations employees are dead against things where employees are not consulted before implementing something, and this has not  gone down very well with the employees.

But involving employees in decision making process is not that easy and it requires proper tools and proper medium to take their views into consideration.  So, How can organizations involve employees in decision making process?

Feedback portal

idea posted by Prarthana Devi Database Architect/Designer, Leading IT Company

Being an Infy employee over the years....have seen like, Whenever a policy is ready, it would be put up on the managers' portal and now on myvoice (an intranet facility) for a week, so that employees can assess the feasibility of the proposed policy and give feedback. The feedback will be collected by a policy council. It will then debates on the inputs and a rough policy draft is applied for six months. All employees can comment during this period and after this probation period ends, a final policy is drafted, including the second level of employee feedback.  So, in this way we can involve employees in decision making process......

Feed Back Mechanism

Suggestible would be developing, presnting a process for Feedback mechanism. In orderto invite the comments in the given customed form , drop box method can be used. This needs to be propogated well by way of various commuications display methods and unique reminder methods. Before inviting these ideas one thing must bear in must that whatever is received must be considered to extent possible.
