Iagree to your idea as insulation may make the building weatherproof.
I agree with Pragya. Insulation can be used in the building making it more energy efficient and reducing the costs of running air conditioning or heating as per the climatic conditions
Since I haven't gone through thorough ly about LEED ,let me study then only I can give any argument ,it may take a week.

We have LEED rating system for various kinds of constructions like commercial, Homes (New), Existing Buildings (Interiors), etc. Of these we can select the Interiors rating sysytem and go in for ratings. Moreover, talks were on to introduce rating systems for existing buildings if the same are brought into force then it would be much more easier. |

LEED EB O&M-2009 just been launched 5 months back is the revised guildeline for LEED EB is the powerful tool to make an existing building Green Building. We have done a couple of the Feasibilty Study and found LEED EB O&M is the most powerfull and unique tool for an existing building to go green.
Leed for EB guidelines are given in LEED USGBC Manual, but along with that the other certifications for Green building has also been formulated such as Leed India, IGBC (Indian Green building Council) has also formulated rating systems for Existing buildings. If anyone wants more details for any of the rating systems can contact me as i m working on different rating systems for different buildings in Ahmedabad.

Leed (Leadership in Energy Efficient Design) gives the certification of Green building, but even if your building is not certified but saves energy is considered to be green building or you can name it as "Sustainable buildings" which utilises present resources taking into considerations the future savings of resources. |

LEED Rating systems has given directions how to obtain rating for Existing buildings. Check out the below link for different rating systems. Different buildings will 've to adopt different methodologies to qualify for LEED. |

We only can facilitate our coming generation by providing them better living atmosphere,which will be more inclined towards usage of non conventional energy sources and natural sources,which still we are having full of. There is few Important ways of converting simple structure in to nature friendly structure,like Direction of the structure,wind direction,orientation of living area etc,there can be lot more option to explore and discuss in this regards, |

Opening sizes of windows and vents should be sufficient so that during daylight no artificial lighting is utalised ,saving energy.Good ventilation may also save energy.Some greenery may be developed depending in sorrounding or some of the building area to keep it weather proof.water body may also run through . |

I have always believed that we should think on 10-15-20 years from now basis. The infrastrucute we create can last longer than it does. This will always need lot of extra support but still won't it be helpful. Do you think the way we are planning... |
