This is not a new technology in fact, it dates back to ancient times. It is simple economical which is vaible in almost all places. This system is already implemented in different states of India and other countries also. As an example for a roof top area of 100 sq. and where an annual rainfall of 78cm available 100 days of water can be collected for a family of 5members. |

Rain Water Harvesting is the major remedy on reducing ground water exploitation. With rapid urbanization most of the rain water goes down the storm water drain, which flows out of town/city and land below urbanization remains dry. The rain water should prcolate unformly all through the land below urban habitaion.
Yes Mr.Manoj Kumar I will also accept the rain water harvesting in order to avoid ground water exploitation.
Excellent way sir, but the present urban scenario India bears ma not be suitable for it. New development %age in urban India is only 8% (approx.) while the wastage of ground water is most in this zone.
However, any new settlement should be complied by rain water harvesting and that really should be mandatory.

Sub-soil water should be re-directed to the ground as our present sewer system connects mostly to some streams, which in turn connects to any larger motile source of water. Instead, reusing the water cleansed by sedimentation and filtration can add to the sub-soil water more effectively as then only can a cycle be formed maintaining approximately the proper ratio. |

Hi Manoj interesting idea contest, I think growing trees and plants will reduce water exploitation issues. Since the urban development people stopped growing trees and every green lands where changed to buildings. So the water poured into the ground has been reduced. We keep on taking water and don't pour. So everyone should plant trees to reduce this problem. :) |

Thanks for the referral Mr.Manoj Kumar. Today the agricultural lands are converted into residential and multistory buildings. Therefore there is no irrigation where the water will go into the ground. Secondly our valuable forests are being destroyed for the reasons best known to the concerned people. As a result there is no rain. When the forest is destroyed, they should simultaneously plant trees that practice is not followed. Now we are crying for water. When there is no proper rain, we will not get water from the earth.
Of late we have inadequate rain during the monsoon, and this water at least can be harvested into the ground. Besides, everybody must make a practice of growing plants & trees in the available places.
Today the rate of reduction of tree from forest is increadesed, first requiremet is to reduce that percentage, and after that plantation of tree anny where should be increase.

In the yester years, you would find a huge pond in every village, in addition to wells in each and every house. Water in pond is a perennial source for the households. If the pond is dried up, the entire wells in and around the village also face the same fate! Therefore, people in the villages were conscious of maintaining the water level in the pond by methods, like, desilting, etc.

INDIA IS DEVELOPING IN INFRASTRUTURE,ROADS AND RAILWAYS,WE ARE ABOLISHING SO MANY HECTARES OF LAND FOR DEVELOPING INFRASTRUCTURE BUT IN THE SAME TIME IT RESULTS IN GROUND WATER EXPLOITATION

As a first step.town plaaners must survey all the new multi stoires buldings and townships. They should design proper water supply system. At least this problem of low water table could be minimised.

Any plant should get designed in such a way that all the discharge from inside the premises to outside should be ZERO. All the discharges should be treated and then send for processing or reuse.

If water in cities and industrial areas can be treated and cleaned and not dumped, this can act as huge source of water that can be used, also keeping are water bodies clean and not dumping industrial waste could go a long way in sustainability of water resources in our country. |
