Wide broadband network

idea posted by Sonam Kapoor Software Developer, IBM

I think Wide broadband network is what will bridge that big divide that is there in India at the moment, where urban and rural are two different entities, and if India really wants to unearth its true potential then it needs to get connected and wide broadband network is what will do for India, improvement on the Infrastructure part of it and wimax is what will help in this regard.

BY CREATING PROPER AWARENESS

idea posted by Krishna Bhardwaj Lyrics Writer, Freelancer
We can bridge the Digital Divide in Indian by getting proper awareness about the technology. We have to make such a system so that gap between the societies and digital divide can be reduced or can work like a bridge between it.

Thanks for the referral Ms Sonam,

I agree with Mr Bharadwaj, proper awareness has to be provided to people so that they understand better about the advantages of technology.

After bridging the Rich / Poor devide.

idea posted by Abraham Paul Senior Telecom Consultant, FCOMNET- Future Groups

Digital based ICT will not grow alone by itself unless other areas also grow alongwith.

Till then, the aim shall be for penetration of rural areas by providing digital systems and access to public utility systems, like schools, hospitals, panchayat / village offices, post offices, rural banks, co-operative societies, etc.

The basic infrastructure needed for this is Optical Fibre cable network linking the rural areas and towns with cities and Broad band wireless end links for distributed access and mobility to the extent as socio-economic growth happens and divide between rich and poor narrows.

We may not hide the real-life devide in our country. How can we eliminate 'digital divide' ?

The mass is really divided in two parts : the '' haves and the 'have nots'. There remains wide gap between the poor and the rich - do naybody bother ?

However, amongst the "Haves", awareness, want, accessibility of infra etc are main factors of the divide. We are to address such issues immediately.

Cost of Entry

idea posted by Syed Thameem Telecom Consultant - Senior, Consultant

We need to minimise the cost and need to remove the barrier for the new entrants (consumers)

Absolutely. Mobiles have become so widespread , only because the cost per call has come to the lowest possible ; at one time , when the cost was Rs. 30/minute , how many people could afford to use this technology ?

Also , the cost of mobiles has also come down to less than Rs. 1000/-

When laptops were Rs.70,000/- , how many had laptops ? Today , almost every engineer has a laptop.

EDUCATION ABOUT TECHNOLOGY

idea posted by Krunal Kothari BDO, GLOBAL EXIM

India is a vast country. The population is unevenly distributed among its different sectors. There is also a lot of gap between the higher society & the lower society peoples. The lower society people are still struggling for the basic education. I think that there should be enough schools & each part of the village & also should be easily accessible. In every school there has to be a session specially on the information on advancement of digital technology & its uses. This particular thing is even missing in the good schools of the metro cities.

By this the subject point can be accomplished.

I Agree with Krunal education about technology is important until and unless people are not educated about technology it is difficult ot bridge the gap.

Affordable technology

idea posted by Jaygopal Raghavan Marketing Manager, Landmark Group

Of what use is technology or its education if it is not affordable first. To bridge the digital divide one needs to have affordable technology in place that go to every nook and corner of the world. Only then would people think of embracing it and utilising it. Very often we find the latest technology introduced with no takers only because of its cost. Only when technology is made affordable and available will people take to it.
