Sanskrit is the mother of all the languages spoken in India today. Everyone is aware of that and has equal respect for it immaterial of their regionalism, every citizen of India is sentimentally attached to Sanskrit due to cultural terms. As we saw Hindi became a failure in uniting every state in India, I feel, if Sanskrit is declared official language, every citizen from Himalayas to Kanyakumari will wholeheartedly welcome it. |

I think we the people of India Guide the world and hold the post in the grade as well as professionaly in the world class organisations and participate in one of the most important key role in the industry of comunication which become the main key part to spread our language in the world as one the most reliable, lovely, sweet and valuable and respectable language if we do and take interest in it. Further we never forget that our language is our identity and all source of inventions are in our languages.
Agree with your views Disha,
And Sanskrit may as well provide a more cultured society in general as the language itself is through its rich legacy.
Hello Disha, with due respect to your views i beg to state the fact that Sanskrit is not the mother of all languages spoken in India today. The dravidian language mostly spoken in south india is not derived from sanskrit. Presently approximately 7 % people in india speak in telegu. Thats why when the Hindi was made our national language they made a huge protest. even still they hate to speak in hindi. Now coming to the moot point replacing hindi with sanskrit is a very good idea but i doubt whether it will be a practical one. because sanskrit is now a days become a dead language. except at the time of marriage it is not used. So i think it will impractical if hindi is replaced by sanskrit.

I think a good amount people in our country know and understand English. And the present trend is to learn English because there are lot of opportunities out side India. Seconly large amount of our studies like Medician, Law Engineering are still English oriented. Also we are in a gobal village and English is the only language that help us grow intenationally. |

Probably English is the best solution in addition to the hindi.
English language bridges the gap. But that's ok for urbanites. For the mass hindi is the only language that also connects.
OVER A PERIOD OF TIME, ENGLISH HAS GAINED ACCEPTANCE ACROSS THE LENGTH AND BREADTH OF OUR COUNTRY.KNOWINGLY OR UNKNOWINGLY IT HAS CREPT INTO OUR DAY TO DAY LIFE.LET US ACCEPT REALITY AND GO AHEAD ACCORDINGLY.
|
|
The regional imbalances and gap we have to bridge first we have to culcate the nationalism rather than regionalism then giving the bilingual system where hindi english and the regional language will be compulsory and we have to forget vote bank politics and we have to work for unity

May be a option for future.
Accept the reality-Hindi is spoken widely but we Indians view english language more as a status symbol of being elitist. And thus i think we will never promote Hindi as Chinese or russian. But,to my mind it must be done because it is our mother tongue and why to evaporate our language at the cost of english?
True, we can neither deny the signficance of Hindi as national language nor it is possible for us to abolish English from being official language in India. We were a British colony and if that political submission brought us some scope of learning the most popular global language, we should utilize that rather than mixing nationality issues with language. There is no harm trying to prepare ourselves as tri-lingual nation instead of staying bi-lingual. For this, Indian professional class has to grow a little more respect for their mother tongue (regional language).
The quality of language education will be the next issue here. Due to the existence of different board of examinations and non-standardized educational programms in different parts of the country, even the skill in Hindi or English differs a lot depending on the students location or socio-cultural position.
I do not think introducing Sanskrit or Urdu as official language would be a practical solution for our language related problems. Both were developed as means of articulate communication among specific classes of people here and could never take the place of people's language. But yes, these have immense importance in the field of Indian language studies and we should encourage some research and development activities in this field also, along with management and technical studies, in course of developing India as a "Nation".

education board should put the idea forward to ministers have central education system and have english as major language (medium of education)compulsorily from grassroot levels , the 2nd and 3rd language could be hindi and /or regional language .
if this happens there would be no cbse, ssc, icse problems ever.

It does seem simple to have a blanket plan for all children. But it IS not so simple.
For us, who have studied inEnglish medium, while the spoken language was always something else, know that.
There are interior & micro interior areas in our country, where the school teacher might never have himself/ herself had English as a subject.
Will U & I consent to be sent to such places & serve these kids?
In education, the first priority is the 3 Rs - reading, writing & arithmetic, & a child is best taught in his/her mother tongue
|
|
I think right now more than 70% people of india speaks Hindi/Urdu, so there is no question to replace it, but coming back to my idea I think the Central government should make HINDI as a compulsory subject at least till Secondery level, and this should be implemented in all states, for example strictly in TAMILNADU, KERALA & Karnatka.

Our Idea has to be in favour of our country and its people. 1 common language other than our local language will attach people from diferent parts of country. That is the reason i support promotion of HINDI language (majority spoken language).

Hindi & English both serve their purposes in India,
moreover, the hundreds of regional languages & dialects that there are, are pillars of the respective cultures.
The language gap will be bridged by tolerance, awareness & interest in our 'neighbours', not by changing the official language.
English is such a successful language,
A contributing factor is that English lends itself to constant renewal, absorbs words from languages around the world, & accepts change.
Hindi academicians & scholars should be less of purists. Like Mumbaiya Hindi & Hyderabadi Hindi, we should let all people get comfortable in their own way with the bridging language.

Encourage the learning of non-Hindi languages in Hindi areas, and encourage hybrid languages like Mumbaiya (which incorporate different vocabularies), Hinglish, Hindustani, etc to grow. Let language learning be less about rote learning and more through news, entertainment and songs, and contemporary plays/etc. Create schemes that encourage massive interexchange of students of different language states. All these will reduce increase interest in each other's languages and reduce the feeling of language being imposed from outside and let people learn each other's language. |

The choice is never between Hindi and English. Whether we believe it or not , English is the universal language , which gives those fluent in English , the option of a global career , as compared to those who cannot speak English so well. Most schools and colleges all over India already have English as the medium of instruction. The problem is the second language ; most schools offer the regional languages as the second language. Quite a few students opt for this , with the result Hindi often becomes the third language , and hence does not get any attention. Instead , if Hindi is compulsorily made the second language , with the regional language as the third language , then every school-going student will be reasonably proficient in Hindi.

First of all what is the purpose of a/any language? Obviously, to communicate between two or more people! Now we understand the the need to learn the required languages. 1. To communicate with your FAMILY you need your MOTHER-TONGUE. 2. To communicate with your SOCIETY you need learn your NATIONAL LANGUAGE. 3. To communicate with the world, you need to learn INTERNATIONAL language. So, depending upon your need and growth you need to learn. A simple VILLAGE-FOLK need not stress on learning international language. But, an outgoing modern traveler need to learn as many languages. We need to understand one thing, the more we are open to outside world, more will be knowledge and experience and growth we will get! EVERYBODY'S MOTHER IS GREAT TO THEM, SO IS THEIR LANGUAGE! |

Till today we are feeling comfort in English and promoting English as official language rather than promoting our national language (Hindi) as official language. If all come on single platform then it is possible to break this barrier. |

Any Language you keep as National language be it Hindi, Gujarati,Marati or Sanskrit anything for that matter, keep English as a link language and the third their regional language.Indian Economy is not coming out of Hindi it is thro' English. Ask Bajaj, tata, birla etc. Of course, these personality speak their local language but prime use English. So you need English. Use regional language to communicate philosophy of India, the political theory etc.The National language to record India'S requirements.Thats it. No hi fi. |

Dear Readers, Oflate there has been lot of argumement over the Language issue. Marathi/Kannada/Tamil/Hindi/English and other languages. this was not so much until Internet invaded our way of living and thinking. - thats when English has been the solution as language-suppport for earning and making our livelihood as our work-life is more dependant on international clients /customers and business. We must not forget that what ever said and done, English is just a medium of communication which we need to learn and speak as it is much needed in business and corporate communications. but that does not mean we should ignore or look down upon our own mother tongue. We live in a diversified country and each language has its history and importance. We should have the pride. We should make sure the children of tomorrow learn their mother-tongue language and also the English language - English language should be a part of our language learning subject, Let us give due respect to all the languages. I am surprised why only in India we have such problems. Perhaps if we change our attitude a bit, everything wil be fine and if we don't politicise each and every issue, things will be smooth.

I do respect your concern miss,Even I respect all the languages but it doesn't resolve the debate raised by DISHA!we should have 1 common language other than our regional languages to bind people toghter in the same string!

All the problems and huge expenditure incurred by the government and the inconvenience experienced by the people of this country are due to our neglec ting the mother Sanskrit. We have been foolishly bringing Hindi into focus.

First don't make the difference on the basis of language. Just use ur mother tongue in ur local relation but at the time of proffession just continue with the professional language & sanskrit is very hard to learn therefore if v r going to replace v need to first learn in which v waste more time, this is market where time is money.

As I told before, English is a foreign language and it just can be on our tongue in case if it is necessary. As some of the scholars say that
Hindi is derived from sanskrit we can replace hindi with sanskrit. And that too Sanskrit is regardes as 'Devabhasha'.

Well as a post-graduate in sanskrit i'll suggest replacing hindi with sanskrit is a best idea. It seems to be very difficult to learn sanskrit but the obvious fact is it is not. I mean it's very easy to learn and also many people think that sanskrit is a caste language and only for specific caste only. This point of view is very well there in southindia but it's not. Sanskrit is a language which has enormous things in it and it's our own wealth and it is for all. As well as we are using a lot of sanskrit words in every indian language with or without knowing it's a sanskrit word. So considering our own treasure than foriegn treasure is a good one.

Making Hindi official language is the result of appease North India politics. Even The Official language Hindi, Devanagari script is used by only 3 to 4% of the Hindi speaking people there are so many dialects in Hindi which use different scripts. Let the Governement Put a condition that Hindi speaking people learn a non hindi based language |

There is no problem in learning sanskrit. People will enjoy it if we promote it effectively.

A teenager in China's Anhui province sold his right kidney to buy a new iPad 2, satellite TV channel Dongfang reported Thursday. Seventeen-year-old Xiao Zheng had been dreaming of a new iPad 2 for a while, but the price was way beyond his means.... |
