Today there is chaos everywhere in India, there is development happening in haphazard manner, someone is digging the roads for putting new road and when completed someone is digging it for water purpose and then comes the telephone department, and then its being digged for metro rail purpose, there is too much of vehicle population at the moment, too much of pollution, and too much of people who are concentrated in cities than anywhere else, cities are filled like anything, there is hardly any space left, Infact there is no space for parking but vehicle registrations are happening like anything.

So living conditions are becoming worse day by day in India at the moment, and hardly there is green cover left in cities. If something is not done now then it will be worse beyond repair and it will be all too late to think for an alternative.

So, how can we build livable cities in India? I mean where actually people can live peacefully & how to go about it??

Ruralization

idea posted by keshav m Project Architect, adonis designs

For the past thousands of years India have been Ruralcentric.

It is villages which are centre for India's economic growth. It is villages and rual based economy which protected India from the grips of recession.

Social support system, Energy recycling, public safety are integral part of our rural communities.

Only answer to congestion and other problems in urban areas is to move to Rural areas.

This a mistake which we have done untill now. Behind the garb of the very popular phrase "India is a village centric country" we have neither developed our village nor did we gave due importance to our cities.

Our cities have still not been properly urbanised.

Reinforced and efficient social support system

idea posted by Pragya Kothari Construction-Heavy, DLF

According to me Livable cities need a reinforced and efficient social support system in India, so that the urban traffic, public safety and energy recycling networks will be turned more in scientific way and which is viable, and social security setups should expand or improve, and public resources should be allotted more rationally in a bid to upgrade the mitigation levels for urban disasters and create a harmonious development of the space for urban dwellers, which is increasing day by day.

I support your views, Pragya.

Also it should be done with planning or consideration of population growth so that it's purpose will be achieved.

Feeling of Ownership

idea posted by Vivek Singh Project Manager, L&T

Untill we as citizen and our officials as service providers and our leaders start owning the cities as there own belonging and not just a 'mandi' where they have been sold and are waiting to be sold further with enhanced value, cities can not become a better place to live.

Choose where there is no abuse

Thanks,Pragya ji,i find no place to live by , the reasons are many,The one which is most potent is what Mr Vivek has cracked and another, the willful abuse of space.Show me the place, where there is peace, this is now a days a rare commodity.

Quality Construction

idea posted by Ravichandran QS -Infr5astructure Projects , ACE International Consultant
People who put hard earned money in buying a house , however the quality is far from standard in India . Except some reputed groups . There should be a regulator like consultant to supervise the construction actvities . For a project like minimum 25000 sqft, The project to be supervised especially quality wise and approved by the consultant . The payment to the builder should be linked to the consultants approval for the progress of work . The system is followed in Gulf countries and in western also. Recently i seen on article where the newly constructed villas in navi mumbai which are more than one crore are leaking , cracks are developed . There is no proper regulation in real estate and the buyers are taken for a ride , even though the builders are facing problem in getting approval from various agencies which are more corrupt and the builder can charge from the buyer for genuine reason . If you want to buy a car , we see the model and specification , the price is also fixed and the delivery may get some normal delays , however we got the product what we seen before booking . This qapplicable for almost all the products and we are not taken for a ride , however in real estate this is not happening and the buyer can be easily taken for a ride . unless the buyers in each project themselves form an association during construction and they have to collectively put pressure on builders to deliver the right thing. The government to take initiative in this issue . the above topic will continue
