I remember in college, most of my friends who picked smoking would do so in the harmless process of killing time. Being in company of other boisterous youth, full of energy, but doing nothing is the main killer. To keep youth occupied, we simply need to provide them more outlets for energy in terms of playgrounds, gymnasiums, hobby centres and give them opportunity to engage in part time activities like national service, NCC, industrial attachments etc. In the minds of youth smoking seems to be a cool thing. We must somehow overtake the constant symbology of showing smoking as a persona-enhancer and show those who smoke as lagging behind in most areas of normalcy before they would even bite the bait of non-smoking routes. |

Since smoking can't be banned legally,at least all kinds of possible taxes can be imposed on these industries even twice a year.
This will edit lower and middle class smokers.Also, good revenue will come from the smokers who can pay to spoil their health.
The premiums of smokers for insurance should be 25% more and benefits less.
The ads like 'Ooh do you know ?Cancer stops smoking>>>Really' should be promoted.
The licenses of dealers for sale of Cigarettes etc.should cost in multiples and subject to audit by FDA though cigarettes are not food or drug but they are in-helled.
The stability of the cigarettes should be for 3 months only from the date of manufacturing.

For most heavy smokers, smoking has ceased to be “just a Habit” and instead turned into an “Addiction”. Unfortunately for these persons, their “Will Power” or “Mind Control Power” (with regards to Quitting Smoking only) has severely diminished. They no longer are able to exercise their “Will Power” or “Mind Control” over this action of theirs and hence are unable to come out of this addiction. And yes, Nicotine allergy (Craving or urge to get nicotine in the blood stream) does not go away easily and may be in the system for very prolonged periods (in some cases for over 10 years). That’s why smokers who quit may take up to smoking again and again. But these with steps given in the link, people would easily overcome any slip-ups that occur and would get back to their “Smoke free days”.

I think the only way is by communicating to them and that responsibility is more to the parents. First of all the parents should be aware of what their children are doing. Then they need to speak with him in friendly manner and make them aware of the harmful effects and health issues in it. |

Communication is indeed very necessary. It helps us bringing out the issues and solving them. Parents should communicate-not dictate- with their children more often to solve out their things and give them the right idea towards life.

First I agree with Mr Milind.
Morever it has been observed that any person who takes good involvement in sport activities will be less prone to smoking , reason is very simple that if u smoke u lose stemena very fast, and in any sport stemena is key thing. So better you endorse sport activity which a teen like the most probably you can prevent him from smoking at the same time sports generates good health. I think not a bad Idea , at least try it.

Educate them about the consequences of smoking and involve them in campaigns against smoking, this will produce desired results This may take time but it will be effective in reducing the smoking among teens, even this will help in bringing down use of drugs among teens |

When I was young, I'd like to smoke with my classmates.But once time,I got cold very seirious. And always be tired for my cough . Then one day, I found my sputum is coke yellow . I'm very scared. And never smoke again. |

You cannot make the teenagers give up smoking if you are yourself a smoker. You cannot expect them to develop a good character if you are yourself running after the opposite sex. Spiritual training is the only way to impart a good character. Today we expose our teens to all sort of rubbish and then expect them to lead a sober life! How hypocritical we have become. |

They have succeeded in increasing the oil content in tobacco leaves. According to the researchers, these modified plants can produce up to 20 times more oil than traditional plants. This makes the tobacco plant more suitable for producing biofuels.
Medicinal products from plants or even tobacco for health – a vision that could soon become reality. Bayer and its subsidiary Icon Genetics have together developed a new production process that can be used to produce biotech drugs in tobacco plants. A new production facility for therapeutic proteins was inaugurated on June 16 in Halle, Saxony-Anhalt, with a ceremony attended by guests from the scientific community, politics and business. In the future, the active substances produced in the tobacco plants could be used to develop new approaches to the therapy and prevention of diseases for which the current medical options are not satisfactory.

smoking shoul be banned below age 25 and upper age people shud do on their own risk...rather it is killing or making idia weak from inside,we all should devot maximum time with our teens age child /brother /sister with freindlt atmosphere by this mean they get less reduce /solving their personnel probelm and discussiong their probel which thry hesistate to discuss with family members will n help them to get solution of their problems and less stress and more confident and excellling in liferather going in wrong hands if they will go for help to outsiders.this will help to reduce the chances of wrong habbits to teen age guysnot smoking bt taking alchol etc also
