How can we promote environmental sustainability??

Green building practices are reducing environmental impacts by influencing design, construction,and deconstruction choices. Innovative practices are promoting a variety of sustainable building techniques, such as use of green building materials, energy and water-efficient design, and demolition material reuse and recycling. Other innovative practices are taking a broader perspective by facilitating sustainable design at the neighborhood or community level.

Innovative green building practices are:

1) disseminating information on green building techniques;

2) developing tools to facilitate green design choices; and

3) leveraging government's ability to lead by example through its building and construction choices.

Agency managers can use these techniques to address specific waste, energy, or water challenges, and to complement broader efforts to encourage environmentally sustainable behaviors.

Waste management, needs a serious attention. It includes minimization, recycling & proper disposal of wastes. These concept needs to be  ingrained deeply in to the minds of manufacturer, buyer & civil authorities- the so called disposer. Waste endangers environment innumerable ways. So every effort is to be taken to control wastes.

Carbon, methane etc, is the GHG(Green House Gas), that makes The Globe warm. So, carbon consumption from Individual to corporate body needs to be reduced it as much as possible.This can be through various austerity measures in use of energy.

Be it a construction of a house / industrial unit, always go green. Introduce engineering methods to keep the building green by adopting say, natural light all time, recycling of waste water, minmising water use by different technique, try use paperless work to reduce waste, use green technique to consume less energy in all tools and equipment etc.

We must change all attitudes, outlooks and practices till we can live in the present using available resources without compromising the future.

Consumer recycling has succeeded mostly in reducing industrial consumption of energy and water. Production of materials such as aluminum or glass requires large amounts of electricity or fossil fuels. The recycling of such materials is profitable   and prevents a substantial amount of greenhouse gas emissions.        Many manufactured products are not readily biodegradable and take up space in landfills or must be incinerated. Recycling is an alternative to this. In theory, recycling would allow a continuing reuse of materials for the same purpose. In practice, recycling most often extends the useful life of a material, but in a less-versatile form. For example, when paper is recycled, the fibers shorten, making it less useful for high grade papers. Other materials can suffer from contamination, making them unsuitable for food packaging.
