How can we stop 'honour killing' in India?

The only thing behind all this things is religion. Due to extremism mentality, people never think in a broader sence and thats why commit such kind of crimes. The only way to stop all this is to stop them from becoming extremists by educating them by modern education.

People of all religions of only certain socially backward regions in India, Pakistan & Afghanistan do practice these socalled 'honour killings'.

The reaction to inter-caste, inter-community or intra-gothra alliances is not reacted to, so violently, in other parts of India, Pakistan & Afghanistan.

Social backwardness alone is responsible for allowance of exisitance of the 'Khap Panchayats' which in turn are ordering the killings.

Of course, elsewhere in India 'Gram Panchayats' like in Punjab, collecting a penality of just Rs. 30,000/- and letting off the rape criminal did happened in the recent past.

Again, the local panchayats taking over the administration of the criminal justice is the sign of the existance of the feudal set up in those parts.

All such excesses  are taking place only because, while the rest of India is marching forward, there still is a section of the society which is maintaning the status quo or even marching backwards, on account of the weak State that fails to contian the extra-constitutional authority of these ‘local panchayats’.

The only solution to this type of decayed practices is to eradicate the social backwardness and bring in strict laws to outlaw all forms of extra-constitional justice.

People in the grass root have to be made aware and educated,so that they can look beyond the barriers of caste, creed, language and other such divisions..
